This is the story of the little boy that cried wolf - Tsunami as an organization has so many brilliant let downs under their belt that even if DEDE did miss his flight etc - I for one will still be sceptical. The fact of the matter is dat these people do not throw parties to make people feel happy but throw parties to make money - tell me one thing - since you guys were missing one act - why couldnt you reduce the fee at the door for atleast the first few people that walked in through the door - until the price that you were paying to that artist was covered in the difference. PLus - I would really like to know when did you find out that DEDE was not coming. I mean you couldve mentioned something on this forum and the NY604- so please dont give me that buillshit. Junya - the very fact that tsunami could not arrange a good mixer for you should be a reflection on them - Im sure other organization that throw parties would atleast be nice enuff to get the right mixer.

A review of the last tsunami party at arc ..

after a disappointment at the door, to hear that dede wasnt going to make it, we were exposed to about two hours of yoni's "fresh israeli beat", which sounded like a tired rerun of the many times ive heard him before, in my opinion .. not a very promising start, although he did play radio edit at the end if the set which lifted my mood a little ..

the floor was too full of little kids in white gloves and streamers with obscenely wide smiles on their faces ( i give you one guess ?? ) ...

junya's live set was really good, but too much of the same, unfortunately .. i suppose we have been spoilt here after having seen him so many times ... yoni came back once again after him with a slightly better offering than before, and then junya finished up from about 6 15ish to 8 15 or so ..

his dj set was some true madness, with the floor having cleared to about fifty or so of the more dedicated lot, truly losing it to the tracks he was serving up, creating some constant mayhem .. those two hours made up for a party that was alright - till the very end, which made for one of the better tsunami parties i have been to in a while ..

daya's artwork and john's incredible talent made arc look like a true psychedelic playground - except for those damn balloons hanging around .. hell, if i wanted balloons, id go to a birthday party ..

good to see all the usuals there - all in all, a party that was saved from being just another tsunami event by that crazy redhead from across the ocean .. thank you for that last forty minutes especially, the music was outta control !!!

Hehe, this is kind of funny.

@ X-File:

Tsunami has a history of throwing shitty parties. Artists are missing at the majority of their parties, some parties had such shitty sound systems that you couldn't make out the music (the ones at the roller rink in the Bronx, for example), the parties are over-promoted so you have some very unsavory characters around, purposely scheduling parties on the same weekends as other promoters just to fuck them, etc, etc.

I stopped going to their parties years ago. I do not know JEG personally, and I have not seen the recent parties, so maybe I am wrong. But I have seen the steady stream of shitty party reviews. A lot of people get the impression that Tsunami is in it for ego and $$$.

In any event, Tsunami parties suck, and I will never pay to attend one. I probably wouldn't even go if they were free.

Now before anyone says that New Yorkers suck, let me tell you one thing. How come not many New yorkers had these same feeling towards Synthetic Sadhus? They threw even more parties than Tsunami, they charged even more money for their last few parties, sometimes artists didn't show up, they had poor sound systems at Amazurea, etc. So how come no one had a similar reaction towards them? It's because it was obvious that SS cared about their customers and psy music, and was not just doing this for ego and $$$. Especially Chris, she was so nice =(.

These are things you pick up by actaully having attended these parties...something you could not have experienced if you were several hundred miles away at the time =).

I cleaned these quotes up to make them more understandable =).

i find it hard to believe that tsunami at their last party...did want to fuck people up and say dede will come while knowing that he won't. that sound stupid to me

Well, I don't know what happened in this particular situation. I don't care either. You must realize that the majority of the people at parties don't know who these artists are, so they won't know if they are lied to. Even the psy-trance addicted don't know what the artists physically look like, so it is easy to get away with such things. Then there are some party-goers who don't really care, they just want a place take E or Acid with repetitive music.

but dont bitch that sombody did not appear. it's likely not the organizer's fault

Only the naive or the uninformed could believe this =).

In any situation you must try to look at the pattern of somone's behavior. Yes, maybe this one time the artist really missed the plane. But this promoter already has a very poor track record. Given such a record, what is likely to be true?

Ok folks, i have magically spilt, merged, copied, pasted, surgically cut, enhanced, botoxed and stretched the topic into 2 seperate coherent entities... you may offer me a sacrifice as your new god later but for now, please keep on topic to whichever topic it is you stick to.
