Yearh.. here we go.. hope I don't piss off to many ppl whith another "how to create this" - topic.
I have been trying to understad how this bass and kick is created but did not succed, so i need help.
It sounds like there is some portamento on it.. Also the kick sound different than what I'm use to (in a good way)...

Its a layered sound, sounds to me like a bass synth, a top line synth and that extra resonant synth patch. I can also hear reverb on the kick, whose sound reminds me of the kick used in Even Dwarfs.

It's from M.E.E.O - loads of laughter (from the album called "Highlight me please") I like that album very much, it has a great flow...

Ok... so here is my first try.. It's far from good and it lacks the great flow that the M.E.E.O track has.. how is that made? Is it sidechained?
Also my overall sound is just wrong, don't really know why...

Yearh, he's great... his sound is kinda different, very groovey stuff IMO.
Of cource I'm not interested in copying his track, just want to learn how he creates this groovey punchy thing...

Hello!

Cool that you like the track
It´s been a while since i made it. Tho ill try to get the most down of how ive made it.

The kickdrum:
Its a multilayerd drum. One kick with alot of air, and reverb. Then i aded a drum with more subbase, to make it deeper. Then a bunch of compression. Probably sonalksis and waves r-comp. (not sure, but thats what i ususaly have)
Also EQ. Sonalksis.

Bassline is minimonsta. Kind of a minimoog clone with extended modulation possibilitys also a bit more stable. As i recall its a single synth, tho a mix of saw and squarewaveforms and also a third sinewave. Then the filter is kinda snappy. Damn.. maybe i should take a look in the mixfile HEHE! But, paralell compression with the kick makes them blend together nicely. And also i put alot of time into getting the base and kick to almost fuse together. but still enugh separation for them to stand out from eachother..

Mybe this will help. ill take a look at the mix file later and see what ive done.

Cheers!

the kicks sounds like techno/trance to me with little reverb and about the bass sounds like a square form bass with some chorus/unison kinda
