The Israeli, southern city Beer Sheva, duo Michael Reznik & Ilan Lanz give us their first album @ Ear Peaks. In the past year I hear that many southern artists come out and release albums. We have the talents! And there are more to come, I promise you

01 Vaporized Triangles 138BPM

Really chilling start, I liked it. Those bass strings are great! The beat starts really awesome. But I prefer my kicks with a little bit more "high-meat". I liked that monster-mouth-opening sound. Its building slowly into fast and smooth trance beat. 2:47 The main track part starts and building slowly but some kind of melody could do the work better IMO. Good start for a great album

02 Encrypted Session 135BPM

Nice airy start here, I love those strings. Hard good rhythm here. I think the kick is too strong compared to the bass, a little bit more bassline volume will make the kickbass combo perfect. The rest is good but nothing so special in this track for me.

03 Threshold Part 1

Subtle beginning with kicks in the background. Hard techtrance kickbass combo.First synth effect comes only in 2:45 area, I think that’s too long without it. Pretty much goes to the end with full power.

04 Yatzek's Revenge

Chiilling start and then the strong beat comes in! This time it doesn’t take so much time till the synth sounds begin, and they rock! Finally I hear some vocal work here, imo that adds so much to this track! The rest of the track is great too, no power stops here. Full engines to the end.

05 Mean Between

This one is gonna be slow, can hear that from the start by the bass sounds. Chilly trance tune, can work great in the early morning just before the sunrise in a progressive party.

06 Concrete Waves

Strong start with nice electrical sounds. After the beat starts there are sounds that reminded me the old Dark Soho sound. This is real dark music not like the "dark" psy stuff. Nice stops in the middle and the dark power continues! This is one of my favorites on this album for sure. Great background gothic sounds, give us the dark feeling without stopping.

07 Sink (Live Edit)

Good dark start here. With nice fx rolling all the time. Kickbass here rock as well! Not so much to add here except this track is really good one! Many mind drilling sounds here and strong beat which will kick some asses on the dancefloor.

08 Threshold Part 2

This one is way better than the first part of it. I personally don’t like to open a track with subby kicks like they did. The rest is going much better. With strong kick and nice fx sounds. I really liked that sound in 2:13! This is really neat drumloop! Some Sub6 reminding sounds here. Strong stuff and Triac don’t let us rest till the track ends.

09 Fast Food

I say again that I don’t like to start with the beat and like some intro, but that’s my taste. Less dancefloor power, but still great to end a set with that one. Funky bass here. It builds slowly and there are some really great background sounds here.5:05 is a part that you can chill too in the dancefloor.

Overall
Triac give us a great first album, and there are very few good albums like that one nowdays. You can hear the great work and investment in their sounds. I think they could try to work more on different bassline notes and not using the same pattern (except track5,9), variation is the name. Personally I liked it a lot and got my copy despite I wasn’t intending to get it. Get your copy, its a good piece of CD to get.

I give it 9\10
Favorite tracks 1(!),4,6(!),7,8,9

PS
It could be better if you make this DJ info square (whatever you name it) sepparate from the cd's papers, I wouldn't want to cut it from it

Triac's Mish and Ilanz are good friends of mine for long years and I might be biased with my review of this CD, but never the less since I had the pleasure of knowing those two brats whereabouts for so long, it will be weird for me not to review it.

To start with I was playing out Triac stuff from the time they were three dudes with the shanti Agalactia Philip, and always thought that those guys have a special touch on things and a very keen and different look at stuff that made their music very special. Add to that high end mixing skills and way over the normal technical abilities, u can get very far with this.

The most dominant factor that makes this CD special and standout a little different from other Tech Trance CD's of last years is its IDM influences - Ilanz is a Boards of Canada addict must be said here, and both of the dudes listen frequently to electronic music that doesnt concerned with a straight beat. And that special mix between Techno - Trance and - IDMish stuff is very unique and I havent heard it before done this way.

To the tracks - I know them all for a very long time - some had been around for 3 years or so. I played them all - if I must make my standouts they will be probably Vaporized Triangles, the title track Mean Between, Thrashold part II with it's genious use of Vocoder on Lord of the Rings speech, and the last monstrous size Fast Food. But ofcourse the rest rocking as well - the collab with Miki Litvak is a dance floor killer and so is the Concrete Waves and Encrypted Session.. There is just too much good music here.

Ido Domestic did a super fine job on mastering of this CD, making it as a whole a pretty killllllaaargh package.

Go and get it

Just finished listening to it for the first time... I've been waiting for this album for quite some time.
I gotta say it is friggin' awesome but not for home listening. (unless you got super-elite-ultra-cool speakers that is)
In a party though, this album would dominate.

in 2006 we can find new ambassadors for the Israeli trance scene. i mean, among all those unneeded releases which just making our scene look stupid and shallow, some artists rose above this shallowness and brought us new sounds and ideas, and proved that some can still keep it real. if the one to do it in the full on area was U-Recken, Ace Ventura& Perfect Stranger in the prog, than the one (actually 2) who's doing it in the tech area is the Triac guys, Ilan & Mish.
in any scale- Mean Between is great! u don't have to love tech trance to dig it, u just have to love electronic music. some tracks are more for home listening, some are dancefloor crashers, all are good. the psychedelic elements and the semi-dark melodies which are so important for me were not forgotten. great production, nice cover work, and u cannot go wrong with Ido Domestic either, so all's good. bottom line- go get it, for sure it's one of the best releases this year!
good luck Triac, you deserve it
my favorites: 1, 2 , 5(!), 6(!), 7, 8, 9.
