Good music will ever be..

I love your words yuli. Great attitude man! I really dont believe the music should be for the masses. i dont think a large part of the population needs it. i'm not trying to be exclusive or elitist. Sure, it would be unforgettable to see the world dance as one. But that is soo idealistic its ludicrous! It would lose its depth for me in the process, if i knew 1000 000 other people were experiencing the same thing i was, i'd be looking for something else to dive into.

again, inspirational post yuli.

Yalla Yalla elitistim. Music is for everyone, this has nothing to do with the thread here. Who made trance music just for you? and think about it, out of 20 ppl who get hooked on 'simple' psy-trance (dont wanna start giving examples, we all know them...) 1-2 or even 5 might continue later to 'deeper' sides of this music (progressive, tech, minimal etc'). I think its very groovy to see some representative of our scene (Infected on Arutz 2, Astrix on Walla pages, Cosma (unfortunately) on channel 10 etc') - and please notice who are the artists who get exposed to the 'outside world' (when the exposure is positive, not when its related to some dopped trance artist who gets busted in Ben-Gurion airport...).

The more ppl in this scene (IMHO) the stronger we are, and the harder for authorities to hamper the scene (for instance). But all this is besides the point, which was our elitist nature of ripping ourselves of the little we have...

Tal- this is all very nice, but our "strength" does not come from being exposed- it comes from what we represent, do, say and how we live. In order to be exposed what we believe in must be compromised, commercialised- this already happened, and I believe it has quite a lot to do with what Asher talks about.

Quality and not quantity.

However, as Yuli says, this is the life, all we can do is try and do what we believe in, in order to try and pull things our way.

I think both ways are right.
One one hand, we are a small scene that barely supports itself economicaly. This can be improved by either enlarging our numbers OR commiting ourselves to preserving the scene, which means everybody takes part in it (buying CDs, paying for parties, paying for licensed traxx etc').
On the other, I definately agree that its the quality, not the quantity that counts. but quality is also a matter of taste, isn't it? I mean, who's anybody to say what is good and what is not? its art, not a mobile phone factory: One can say that Picaso is very sophisticated and high quality art, but frankly, for me its gibbrish (my kid paints better and more coherent pictures).

Complaining that the scene is bad, boring and comercial and then going to an FTP site and downloading music is just like a greenpeace activist who uses spray deodorant or wears a fur coat: on one side you complain and on the other you shit in the same well.

How about just start buying 1 cd per month, everybody... how hard can it be???

1 cd per month, just 1... and then if you find yourself comfortable buy 2...

It will help...

I buy, i listen and i enjoy...

trance is dying because there are way to many people making noise!

I say: Let trance live! STOP making noise! Stop making ridiculous parties.

Maybe trance is already dead... Sometimes it ressucitate and other times in very special rituals people bring the dead back into life!           cna't find it

It's funny to hear people complaining that some artists are getting more exposed to the masses, - no - let's stay underground they say.

Then you hear people complaining that CD's are too expensive.

I wonder how this theory would work out for the artists?
