I have to dissagree on that one...ie there been "No taste in NZ"

Musicly and style wise i find taste to be a predomint factor in NZ, remeber that Auckland is Not the Total sum/scene/population of NZ

IMO Some of the most special and interesting parties ive played at around the world, have been in NZ ....

I reckon theres alot of taste and style about...from feral bedroom producers, to Internationaly renowned Djs/Live acts that reside play and create in NZ
Population numbers is another matter entirely

No offense but I think the psy scene in NZ will do just fine without any of the above mentioned names. Besides I doubt anyone can afford bringing a name like Astral Projection to NZ.

Guess its also about how you define "psy-scene". For me it doesnt have to be 142 bpm+. Prog and more minimal trance which is probably the most popular sound in NZ can be psychedelic too imo.

Well, my 2 cents....back to work

No offense taken, but thank you 4 proving Exactly my point Bes!

as i said before the scene is very small, and people are not open to suggestions, one of the few major differences between NZ and OZ. Maybe the reason why the scene doesn't grow is exactly that, organisers make the same mistakes over and over.

So what you saying is, Son Kite and other prog artists that have been and performed in NZ are afordable, but none of the rest are?

Now all due respect to CCR, Wizdumb, Pied Piper Paul, Antix, Cyberculture, Illusion and the rest that i have not mentioned here, but TIME TO PUT THE KNOTCH A BIT HIGHER!!! Everything evolves, staying in one place just makes you stagnent.           VJ Gora (Pukka Music/UP Records)

You're welcome m8

True that son kite played there but as far as I recall they only played there cause they were in Oz for gigs also?

Im moving to Nz again in Jan and id be more than happy to bring new acts to the country. But I know its not gonna be easy and for sure needs alot of work and money put into it. We'll see what happens......

Bes there are world class act's in Australia you know, cheap airlines now go to and from NZ (AEROLINEAS ARGENTINA), and when i say all of this i don't mean just prog act's, god knows you have enough of those in NZ, you don't need to import them as well. When will Space Tribe, Mr. P, Dark Nebula, Fractal Glider, and countless more grace the shores of NZ? Let's even forget about OZ act's, as you said there are at least a dozen act's in OZ at any given moment (Kindzadza NYE), nobody uses the oportunity to bring someone in NZ. Now having said that i know that bringing someone like Kindzadza to Auckland would be a total flop. Than again act's such as ELECTROHOLICS would be accepted by the prog community and the wider audience. Anyhow just droping some ideas, stay well Bess and continue the good work.           VJ Gora (Pukka Music/UP Records)

We are talking about the same thing m8. Why no one in NZ takes advantage of all the class acts that visit OZ is a mystery to me. Ill do my best to change that.           Man is the Cruelest Animal!!!!!

getting enough people to break even at a party with internationals - even OZ internationals, is hard in NZ..I was at son kite- am sure the promoters lost money, not enough people.
The psy comunity in NZ is somewhat fragmented as well unfortunately, and some people that are "psytrance" people would never come see Mr P play...cause they would say he's too comercial - imagine that.
I hope the scene grows in NZ, there is so much outdoor space, but getting out door venues is just as hard as it is in NSW           Trance is the answer

Mr Peculiar has already been to NZ. He played at an outdoor party too however only about 15-20 people turned up.......go figure.

Agreed though, the only place where the factors are right for Psy trance in NZ is in Golden Bay however prog and electro rule the day.

You won't be the first person to try Bes, but I wish you the best of of luck.

Imagine that Kindzaza in NZ, shit if your lucky he might get 25 people.......           (`*•.¸(`*•.¸ ¸.•*´)¸.•*´)

yeah, i remember that party.About 20-30 people showed up, and noise Control rocked round in the morning and shut it down.

Pan mentioned it,in General the scene is fragmented... add to that changing variable's here such as weather,Population numbers Etc, and getting anyones flights covered, let alone assuring say atleast 200-300 people(let alone paying ppl show is ...up in the air

the only places i see it work is in the south island. Ie flying in The acts/artists and Djs they wanna see, and having the numbers to cover the costs .

Onto the Golden bay subject.Looking like its going to be a good summer, with some Nice outdoor events and parties on the Cards.

BUFO(CCR)-DK and Minimal Criminal(CCR)-Brazil, and Tribalistic Society (CCR/Domo)-DK, will be here in NZ playing live in the Golden bay area

and i'll be spending the summer between Golden bay/Oz for Gigs

Theres a few new organazations and party promotion Crews taking shape in the Golden bay and Nelson area, wich will mean some more outdoor events and partys year round.
