I’m trying to write an article on Trance Fashion in Japan; so I’m looking for input from the real people out there. My big questions are: What do you WEAR to trance parties, how do you decide, and where do you find your best stuff? Also, (for those who have experience) do you think there are any differences between Japanese trance fashion, and trance fashion in other countries?

Looking forward to hearing your opinions.

my vote for the best shop in japan is
Connected Tokyo. http://www.connected-tokyo.com/
( sorry if its wrong...)
their service are nice and i love them.

the difference? hmm i think its free to wear any style of clothes....as long as they dance hehe,
well seriously i do not think there are much difference for true trance minded ppl but young wannabe or whoever follows the pop scence and worngly entered the scene they look funny here.
i like the ppl in australia, very hippy style with their hippy life. not funcy but nice style, now i am in mexico to play but they are not so much psychedelic fashion, maybe it was too cold for party last night but they told me it is hard to find nice clothes here too.....sad.

hope this helps

Well theres a lot of trance fashion over here in japan.
You got the hippies wearing the bell bottoms and psychedelic clothes and colors.
You have the cyber people wearing the tight outfits with the flourecent colors. I think the brands would be, Fotus, Cyberdog.
then you have the candy ravers wearing, illig, UFO, and all that
thats about all i can think of.

hey, thanks for the info (and the shopping tips, hehe!). Hopefully I can make something out of it -- I mean, to me, almost everyone in Shibuya or Harajuku looks like they've just stepped out of a party so I used to wonder what japanese trancers would do to make themselves stand out. I still can't tell who they are half the time!

ok justin chaos u should chill, every sector of culture influences every other sector... postmodernsim 101... well here in SA, at the parties i have gone to people generally just wear what is comfortable. what one wears is obviously influenced by the venue <whether indoor or outdoor> as well as <obviously > seasons. so people range from going barefoot, with loose fitting, natural fibres, interesting dyed and coloured items to beads to cargo pants to flower power. anything goes, as no one gets phased. i dont get the feeling that we're THAT fashion conscious, people here dont really treat trance parties like fashion ramps....

There is fashion all around the world,I think.
I guess that may be you don`t want to quelify trance as a fashionable style.
Or something like that.

At the big parties I think the main style you would see are kids with Loius Vuton hip packs and designer brand name clothes. Oh and the cell phones, can't forget that. You have got to be talking on your cell phone on the dancefloor to your other friend across the dancefloor to find out where you dropped your Gucci sunglasses.
My favorite are the couples with matching LV gear. Do they plan it out for the parties? I dont know, but I am thinking about doing the same thing so I can fit in.
And someone said everyone in Harajuku looks like they stepped out of a party? i guess so, if you are talking about these kids.
