I would like to know what the general idea about babies listening to trance music. I'm also interested to know what's your personal experience. I'm so sick from the hearing those baby lullabies, but maybe that's what he needs. My limited experience so far suggest that my baby likes trance music, but I've been a father for only few weeks
Is psy trance out of the question ?, how about dark stuff.
Is there certain volume or bpm that I must not exceed (within reason) ?
How about producing dance music while the baby is around ? will he suffer from any side effects listening to the same loop over and over ?
I'm not planing to use him as a rat lab, I just hope to keep listening and producing while he's around. My gut feel is that there is nothing wrong is doing that, after all he has 100% trance loving genes. As far as I remember (not much), I loved to hear all kinds of music when I was a kid. The funny thing is that my wife said that while she was pregnant and I would listen to trance, the baby had react with calm, and was relaxed. Could it be that fast beats are actually chill music for him ?

Babies listen to stuff even before they are born - and I think its good to stimulate them in a balanced way.

You need to take great care in how you stimulate babies and children (even before birth) - So, observe them, look for what they are enjoying.

Play different music for them - let them explore it - I think its very important - Show them how you dance

Moderate it, always remember that they are very fragile - Watch the volume!

I think, music knows no age, gender or species (generally). Even though I dont know what music ants will like, or if they can hear - I dont understand them at all - Who knows ?
I am sure though, that music for humans doesnt need to be explained, it comes natural.

Just remember to be there and supervise it - When I was little, I found listening to an audio tape with "star wars 4" on it extreeeeemely scary - Didnt even dare to listen to it alone, my mommy needed to be there since I couldnt handle the excitement hehe (there goes my tough bastard image)... Music must be the same I think, its emotional.

Best Wishes

Hayez:
Music (from any style) doesn't necessarily has an influence on the baby. I'm a good example: In Lithuania, my mother was an opera singer, I was on many acts ( b 4 I was born) and as a baby on many reversals. Now, when I am almost 16 years in Israel I really do not like opera and never loved this music. It's boring.
So maybe your Baby will hate Trance. You can never know.

It feels nice to hear that your kid enjoys trance . I suggest you dont exceed 150 bpm .. maybe when he was in his mother womb the music was chill ..but now that he is around outside the music will obviously sound different .. try and stick to happy morning melodies till he is able to decipher whats good and bad for himself           missing plug-in

krell - when i was a kid i used to get so petrified whenever hearing classical music....i guess it just means that kids who react strongly to music are more likely to come out better musicians......

Listening to trance may be ok -- but i hate to see babies at parties! i think it is a 'not so good' environment for them to be in due to the volume of the sound and not to mention the intake. babies will have their time to party and jump around like us trancers. babies should do baby things. As for trance genes - haha - i agree with nathan - my dad made me listen to Elvis till the age of 11 - nothing BUT Elvis. Now i hardly listen to Elvis anymore.

thanks all who congratulated
I'm more confident now in letting the baby listen to trance music with the limitations you mentioned.
I wasn't into melodic morning tracks, but I'll give it a try. It does make sense to add it to his playlist.
I don't expect the baby to be a super producer, but it would be fun to know that it helped him if he would want to.
@dopey576, I totally agree with you, no parties for this kid until he'll grow to the age of reason.
I guess most of us have different music styles then our parants have, but I did liked the fact that my parants exposed me to music in general.           "a new art came into my mind which only you can create, the Art of Noises, the logical consequence of your marvelous innovations." Russolo, 1913
