Ever heard of the term PR ?

This has professional PR written all over the article

Wonder how much they had to pay to get it in the paper?

Besides which, to get it in the paper for Sunday morning it would have had to have been written before the Antiworld party took place.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

Hey. Firstly, It seems to me that people complain about the fact that it isn't easy to make a living out of this amazing music. That people copy music etc. More record sales can't be a bad thing...

It is wicked music. And with it comes a great lifestyle, attitude, friendliness etc etc.. Surely it's good if more people are into this. Surely we should share it? It also, in my opinion, is at it's very essence impossible to commercialise - music that is made in this genre to make money will not get played at the good parties, it won't get a look in. Cheesy nonsense isn't where it's at at all.

Imagine, if you will, a society that took on our values and philosophies as a majority thing. We probably wouldn't be in such a mess? This is where we want things to head don't we?

Oh, and it didn't cost a penny to get that article. It was 100% from the Observer.... No PR in sight!

Easy.

The whole point is that the article paint a wrong picture about the scene and the people involved. It paint a "rose garden" picture about some happy hippies all soooo much into Herbal Essense. How more wrong can that picture be? It's a fact that les than 10% today can be categorised as hippies (what is a hippy anyway?). The scene - worldwide - contain a lot of young people that couldn't care less about Ganesh and all the other overused clichés we used to imbrace in the Goa scene. Today more and more people in our complex scene are into hardcore designer drugs and fast Full On music. So to paint a picture of happy hippies into Herbal Essense is pure nonsense. And frankly how can the "Journalist" paint such a picture in the first place? A skilled Journalist would know how to see all sides of a story. I still say it smell like a professional PR job

And about the increase in sales for Organic Records... Well if that's true (which I doubt) then I would like to get my royalty for a previous release

I thought it was a great article.

Thanks for posting the link.

Very interesting to see how the scene is developing over in Europe.

There are different perspectives to this of course, this journalist decided to choose just one, and that's fine I think.

Anyone that has ever written a news media story knows that once you start exploring and explaining ALL the aspects of the story you are most likely going to lose the casual reader who doesn't have much prior knowledge of the subject he's reading about.

The #1 rule in journalism=KISS-Keep it simple stupid! That's what he did and that's why this is considered one of the top newspapers in the world.

We are going to read this in a different light of course, but I like the way we are being portrayed. There is no absolute truth, it's all a matter of perspective. I could easily see how this guy went to one or two parties and talked to some upbeat people and got this vibe which translated into this article. I can't see any harm being done in this story.           Both teams played hard

I would suggest you get the view point of the person that wrote the article. She actually came on-line to explain the article.

Interesting picture illustrating the article :

The reply full_lotus mentioned :

"Hi - thought I would reply to all the comments about my article, which appears to have pissed some people off - sorry, but it was fun to do.

I didn't miss the fact that Psytrance was big ten years ago, the point was it is once again big enough to warrant massive events and an almost dedicated festival launching this summer- which was not the case a couple of years ago.

Everyone I met into the scene didn't mind the fact that others would come along because at the end of the day the scene is never going to attract the horribly trendy crowd who look down on others - it is all about inclusion surely?

What I had put in but was cut because of space was that 'the only people who stick out at a Psytrance event are those with egos'... and in line with that 'while most promoters play down the use of drugs in the scene altogether the one drug which is never welcome is cocaine.'

I don't think the kind of mainstream you are talking about are gonna rush along to Psygate because of the article - when I say mainstream it is still a niche, just a bigger niche - I doubt the people who spent saturday drinking tetleys with polished shoes and gelled hair, dancing badly to britney spears are gonna about turn, rip off their yves saint lauren shirts and join you guys at a Psytrance event.

Well I hope not anyway - if they do have my premission to beat me up.

My thoughts exactly mate. From what I know about Enrico Antiworld [not a great deal admittedly..] I get the distinct impression that he is quite an "astute" businessman.

Don't worry kids - it'll never get on daytime radio - the vocals aren't loud enough.

When was the last time any of the mainstream mags.. feat psy nights ????
none ...and there is no psy track reviews or even cover cd's.... and im surprised with that comment from mixmag , as there ther doing is makin it flavour of the month
and has any of nights like , godskitchen, passion , gatecrasher booked any psy acts...no i've tried to get them to book such acts.. and i get in return is typical silence.
and even at thisyrs godkitchen festival there is NO psy acts at all .....
and whats more worryin you will get those that will , jump on the bandwagon just like whatshappendinthetechno scene .
