i thing that if we can make a connection between trance and ecology,we can divert the first up coming association of trance equalls drugs ,to a new one, a "green" one.

in the long term we can help getting the cops out of our partys, and get a better attitude torwards the music cuzz of the change in the way the trance scene is perceived by the public.

the only problem is how 2 do it....
it takes a lable or an organizer with a vision and some politics and he can rock this f*****
stone age government from top 2 bottom!!

components:

1 organizer/label.
1 financial company.
1 green supporting group.

Well good luck Olli, We had a small open air party at a beach last week, but from what i saw those party heads left trash every where all over the beach. It took us, a couple of hours and a major cooperation from a few people from the crowd to clean up the mess.
I guess its really hard not to throw away small things. I mean one person throwing away a small cigarette butt equals 700 cigarette butts all over the beach!!!!
If a Green ecology organization was there they would be fainting!
I think thats gonna be one hard thing to do!

ask tigga about cleaning up after parties..
if you ask people to take their trash home with them, then the decent ones will and you will have less tidying to do. certainly i think the scene can easily help itself by making sure that free / illegal party venues are not totally trashed. all this takes is a little bit of consideration on our part.
it has always struck me as slightly bizzare, given the 'hippy' ethos that supposedly underlies the scene, that (some) people are so unenvironmentally conscious. i mean, i'm no green nut or anything, but i do sometimes baulk at the huge amount of paper being thrown away outside london clubs every weekend, is there no better solution? and this is no criticism because i have brought and distributed fliers as well, i just would like there to be an alternative.           >>love will tear us apart...<<

once the trance scene will b stigmatized as a green one, people who c themselves as part of it, will have a normative supervision, and therefore will not throw away trash unless it is 2 a trash can.
the trick is not going 2 each and every person asking him 2 behave in a specific way, but 2 start from the top.           The Only True Freedom is Freedom From the Heart Desire

I think you'd have a hard time convincing anyone that a party in the wilderness could possibly help the natural ecosystem. I think it might be beneficial for the crows and other scavengers....

I like REALLY LOUD music, but do really think any of the native creatures in the woods do, too?

Sorry, dude. Trance parties just aren't that groovy for nature. Being in a trance in a natural setting might increase our appreciation of the natural ecosystem, but if it truly did, we would probably realize that we shouldn't be partying in such ways in these sensitive locations.

i guess i'll explain myself better.
what i mean is that we need 2 join forces with a green group, like have a big rave with all incomes donated 2 the preservation of the wild life. the greens donate the topic, we donate the people and the media, and the financial company will sponsor the event (hey, everyone wants 2 b attached with something considering the environment).
a couple of raves (or more), and the public opinion will begin to perceive trance as music that relates not only 2 drugs, but also 2 ecology.

I used to think that the trance scene contained people with a much higher awareness of ecology than the average chump, and while i think that people are aware, they basically end up getting mangled on drugs and they lose their responsibility.
As Tom says I have spent a great deal of time cleaning up sites after parties and most of the time it is okay, there isn't much rubbish around, but then there is the pile of 40 or 50 rubbish bags (for a small party) that the organisers have to remove. I cannot even begin to imagine what it is like at say Boom.
I cannot understand why people cannot be responsible for their own waste, for example if you were camping by yourself in the wilderness, you would not leave the rubbish for someone else to clean up because there is no one else there but because you are at a party for some reason it means that you can leave it. At Voov last year they had enormous bins (the size of the back of a truck) and still there was rubbish everywhere. Why can't people be arsed just to put to their rubbish in a bin when it is provided and take it home with them when one isn't.
I strongly feel that the trance scene needs to gain some collective responsibility for the party sites. As Kaatisu says, if there was total responsibility you would not put on a party in the first place, but that doesn't mean that you can't have a party and the area is not left perfect afterwards. At almost every party the area is left very clean after but usually because a few people spend a lot of hours cleaning up after others.

Olli - I wonder who the public are that you mention because I don't think that the vast majority of the public know about our music and if they did they would associate it with drugs before anything else. The trance scene should be a green scene but it isn't, and only through us (the people that attend the parties) can it ever be. Joining up with a Green group may change the perception of the scene but unless we, ourselves take responsibility for it in the first place, the perception is all that it will change. That is why so many people want to be associated with the enviroment is to create the perception that actually their company cares for the environment when their business is actually very bad for the environment.

I think I could write a thesis on this subject so I
will stop before I bore the lot of you.

BUT FINALLY.....

Everyone TAKE responsibility for your own waste - everyone should be thinking can i recycle this, can i use it in another way, when i leave this here is someone else going to have to clean up after me? It is really simple and basic to clean up after yourself so do it!!!

Sure it IS when you are sober. But on a party everything changes. You fell fine and don't want to think about anything. Well, the most usefull thing that organizers can do is to get trash buskets on a party. And not only one, as u understand.           The Future is Here Now ENJOY

I don't know about the connection between trance and green organizations. Sounds a little politic (excuse me) to me.

People that constantly throw garbage in the nature are pigs without any connection to trance.

Hi Olli, me and a freind are actually trying to do something like what you are talking about. The idea is to raise funds for a local forest regen group, and then hopefully direct those funds toward helping out the environment we party in (like planting more trees, removing weeds, etc). The goal is to leave the forest better off then when we got there (instead of just settling for leaving it rubbish free, and clean)

i will let you know if it works :]

i have been to TRANCEPLANT parties here in oz, where everybody plants trees in a trouble spot & then doof on afterward. they have links with the wilderness society. So it can be done!!!
