Do tracks have to be sad to make you cry?
At the risk of sounding like a complete hippy, all the tracks I have personally listed sprang tears because they are beautiful and/or induced a strong emotional reaction, not because they made me feel sad as such.

An Ending (Ascent) by Roger Eno - must've been listening to it for 15 years now but it still has the same effect on me. The most sublime ambient melody ever written IMHO ...

Completely agree about that! I said the same thing in another thread a while back.
Most of the stuff my Ulrich Schnauss is very emotional.
Same goes for Healer... especially tracks like 'Go to Sleep'... moving stuff!
Also, as i think someone already mentioned, 'Gorecki' by Lamb - beautiful track!!!
As for happy tracks... what about 'Hoppípolla' by Sigur Rós... tracks don't get more uplifting!
Am i the only one who believes in solipsism? |

Ah Gorecki is a wonderful track. Another one of my past obsessions actually, but a loooooong time ago.
Just realised that I have only listed psy-related tear jerkers actually. That being the case, for those feeling emotionally repressed, I would like to wholeheartedly recommend This Mortal Coil's version of Song To the Siren.
Oh. My. God. |

Floatyhippyflower, those tracks i've mencioned doesnt make me cry but in fact they have a strong deep sad fealing in it... Maybe that was what their creators were trying to reproduce. And i feel the ambience of the tracks.
I get happy when i hear them, because they are so well done

The only tracks that I have cried to are two of Radiohead's:
1. Pyramid Song
2. How to Disappear Completely
