... not a good year for compilations, as many of the strongest labels of 2001 didn't do much more than repeat their earlier and well known formulas to success. Still, withing a lot of releases that the world will forget (or already has), a few compilations really shined and showed that the labels have something to offer in a manner of taste, not only artists.
Twisted Records, which hasn't released that many compilations so far, truely shone and gave us the Unusual Suspects, nothing short of revolutionary in todays growingly heavy and mechanical groove atmosphere, reminding us that you don't need to base a track on a fat bassline and well built groove (or screechy effects and a tooth grinding attitude) in order for it to work. Monarchie 2 showed that ZMA has a lot to offer in the way of quality music and extremely talented artists while remaining outside the Scandinavian cliches (most of the time  ). Digital DJ and Twisted Sessions gave us (finally) well compiled and mixed showcases, where the artists got to express themselves and show their vision of the dancefloor. And finally, Plusquam shows us that German progressive is alive and kicking, with some powerful dancefloor oriented kickers that most of us have already heard on the dancefloors even if we didn't buy this compilation.

Inca-Nations (Tip World) - Great compilation , with many 2002 favorites tracks.. -
Encryption (Timecode) - Africa's diamond.. The most powerful beats ready to kill the dancefloors.. -
Echoes (Moon Spirits) - Nice compilation by Sonicsufers..actually this comp. suprised me.. -
