new/old guideline: artists/labels may not review their own cd's or comment thank you's on their own material.
this is for the promotional section, this section is for our users.
the policy will not be enforced retroactively - only from this point on forward.           "On the other hand, you have different fingers."

just so i get this straight: from now on we cannot even answer questions asked in this section?
just using the example the review of hocus peakus recently posted by deathposture, someone was asking whether we ll be releasing artist albums, so no one from the label can now answer this?
if this is the case surely it will mean exessive use of the promotional section of this forum? because every time a question is asked here then we ll have to post a new thread in that section to answer it...

sure lets make things clearer... no your example wouldnt be considered a "thank you comment". its info as u say. but we see comments like:
"thank you for the good responses people, for more xxx label stuff, please go to ht1p:/www,xxx,xxx,html" that kind of stuff was flooding the section... for that u agree the promotional section is the proper place no?

Gaspard,

a.
You can always answer via pm to member who intrested in your label news. Without to flood and to self promote in public!

b.
As far as i see you have your website spam in signature. So we all can visit your site and read there news about your label.

I think advertisments in signatures isn't that good idea if you wish to keep this forum out of commercionalism! For me it shows how miserable label is to spam itself everyplace! I never heard Peak music but surely your spam make me want to hear it even less!

I have no problem with website address in signature, just don't put news about your label like Gaspard. It's out my toilet or stuff like that!

you really are quite a rude person...

people ask what s up? i answer. period.
sooooorrrrry if this is tooooo commercial for you.
another point is this: yes i try to advertise a maximum for Peak...
what do you expect? this label is our life, our love, and we are trying to keep our head over ground, so of course i use every opportunity to put out our name. i dont quite see what your problem is ?? if people want news of our label and/or artists by asking questions publicly, shouldnt they be answered?? and why should i answer them in PM when the same question may be asked by several people? by answering it "publicly" will avoid the question being asked again and again, thus taking up your valuable reading time.
if you dont want to see it, my advise to you is: use the little scroller on your mouse and go elsewhere...

i brought this topic back up because it seems that without it, some labels are not getting the message of keeping this section's promotion to a minimum.

please read over the text written here and i'll quote shahar from this thread:
http://forum.isratrance.com/viewtopic.php/topic/59302/forum/9

"Another thing is when the artists/label people/compilers comment on the comments in the thread. Now on one side, this is great. I mean one of the best things in the forum, I think, which also makes it very special, is that artists and listeners can converse on the music. But again, it seems that some people just answer every single response on the thread, probably to push it up and keep it there for everyone to read and promote themselves like that. This is lame, I think.

I don't even want to mention people having few users and conducting whole conversations between themselves on their own releases (we try to stop this, but it's not so easy, you'd be amazed at the efforts they make)."          "On the other hand, you have different fingers."

I don't think many labels or artists actually think that their opinions will drive more sales...

the music speaks for itself - beautifully

if labels make comments it is usually because they are interested in the subject and have something to say....

most people here are well informed and do not need any extra encouragement to decide what cd's they want to buy... or copy

andrew, you would be surprised what see here, from mutipule nicknames to promote themselves or just friends posting comments that are 1% review and 99% promotion. that is just the tip of this lame iceberg.

well... you know what they say about preaching to the converted...

i'm most into hyping our releases to people who don't yet know about the music we release...

most interested people here will either buy, copy or trade our releases - depending on how much they like em and their own sense of ethics

Andrew you so naive, that's maybe why you release good music and sell less copies than ppl about who Surrender is talking.           "there once was a lesbian from Cancun
who took a young man up to her room
where there argued all night as to who had the right
to do what, how much and to whom"

people talk more about future releases than the already released ones... its stupid...
look at promotional section, its full of new posts (good luck, thank you, kill'm all) and so.

agree with Surender at all           _____________________
