For me music and live gigs are not always about dancing, moshing or grooving. These things are fun and important but also I enjoy a lot of music that is entertaining the mind and making my thoughts dance while body regenerates.
I have always liked music, no matter what genre, that challenges me. If something is basic, up from and just about getting on the dance floor I find it boring and harder to get in to.

See I don't get how you can call that dark. There is nothing dark about it at all, the sounds are way to high to create any darkness.
I also fail to see how you can really call it trance either. T clearly does not fit the trance style, and as some friends of mine who dj & produce IDM style said it's very good quality head music & IDM style (for want of a better term).
Many said that such talent is wasted on the pay trance crowd and Mr Psylovsky should consider marketing himself to other EDM scenes. He would garner a much larger cult following, and a lot more respect.

dark on the other hand for me its mind trance... its the perfect time to close my eyes and goes beyond the darkness that i see when i close my eyes...
BUT lets not create dogmas in my opinion...
IN THE OTHER HAND AGAIN... i already have experienced full on at night times that i was totaly capable of mind trancing...
and i already experienced dark trance on the day that was total capable of body trancing and celebration ( lucky we have some festivals playin dark trance at the day ) or goa gil as exemple...
so to sum up...for me there are 3 majors factor that influences in a trance state and what type of trance state u get into...
for me the most important of all..its the time of the day...
night = a MIND , day = a body
second factor its the people....yea imo they are huge influence factors on the trance state...
how do u want to trance in ur mind if people around u its running like cars and tryin to catch atention and screamin and talkin loud so loud that u can hear them talkin even with the music ? now in the other side....
how do u want to body trance if all the people around u are with the eyes closed with the mind 1000 ligh years from here ? almost melting to the ground....
but there are a 3rd set of people on it imo
nnowadays we have even a public that s not interestin in none of those trance states...
they just havin fun dancin and talkin and socializin..fuck the trance states... its not a must...
and the last factor and imo the less important s the music....
dark trance? chaotic dark trance? full on ? prog? goa ?
it ll always be a self preference...and all the genres are capable of takin u anywhere u want.... as long as the production IS SUPPOSED TO BE a psychedelic state of mind...
how can soemone enter in a deep trance stage listening to infected mushroom - i wish ? or alien jesus singin fast evolution? but its totaly capable of enterin in a trance state listening to gms or oood ( in the full on genre)
and the same will apply for darktrance...
some darktrance artists are focused on the psychedelic state..others just random noisy as the ones that i think the op is referin to..
but i think the problem with the dark trance s that s very dificul to identify which ones are focused in the psychedelic states..and which ones are focused in the random noisys... and i think this indendification will always come from experience...

im glad we have psykovisk and all osom in our scene...

To me its the stuff of nightmares imagining a future for our styles filled entirely with crowd pleasers and old-favorite sounds, even if you dont like the sounds you at least can praise the variety available now.
But I kinda agree that the styles are becoming so diffeent they're almost inappropriate to be played at the same gig. Many of the most enjoyable parties Ive been to here in the west US have been entirely harder styles.
Personally I like what I like, cuz it sticks out as enjoyable. I try not to pay attention to the style of a given artist before actually hearing their work, Ive been surprised to find enjoyable stuff i pretty much every style out there, and I dont like the idea of not allowing myself to try something that I might enjoy.
Theres a good saying, opinions are like assholes, everyones got one and they all stink. And; Theres no arguing matters of taste.
Which Im not, arguing, Im trying to get the idea across that its silly to me to care more about unenjoyable things than enjoyable things. And why is there a problem if others happen to like what you may not?
Is your opinion really so special that everyone should feel the same way?
Not talking to anyone in particular, Im speaking rhetorically.
Why bother when you can instead go actually ENJOY stuff?
But I also agree that there are appropriate times for certain sounds, and appropriate moods, the reasons I love Silicon Sound arent the reasons I love Fractal Cowboys.

I don't think anyone at this point utters the phrase 'darkpsy' and expects it to mean anything. Seriously though, that video made me crack up
I truly cannot comprehend why everyone loves him so much o.O I think his orgasm faces and mixing is ridiculous and the music he plays sounds like shit, but those are purely personal taste issues.
I agree the same sounds are boring, but some sounds are just annoying even if they are newer
I agree with you mudpeople, a lot of the times I feel this type of music is inappropriate to play at psytrance parties.
