rain cane: ever tried making that rain cane effect, where you hear those little stones running up and down that hollow bark of a tree? here's how you make one which is really sweet and easy
take a simple rim shot, and cut it's end using attack and decay. next, put on a simple 3 stage delay, and highten the pitch a little. EQ it to a phone settings, and add another delay, this time a four time delay. in any piano roll, each bar should have about 2 rims playing, and the delay will make that "falling" sound.
add reverb to your likings (i like using the silverspike reverbIt).

well, it's good for ambience effects, something to add for the pads and stuff.

Tap dancing: Some tracks contain sounds of "tap dancing". These could be created by lowering the pitch of a clap sample (CP) by a few octaves. Put a clap sample in every 16 note in a loop, for example, with different velocities and EQ it.

Try to decrease the high frequencies at a bass drum sample
that should cancel any unwanted conflicts between the lo-freq (verious bass) and the hi-freq (verious hihats and snares )
- at the same time , try to send the mid-range samples into a compressor...that should give you more precise use of EQ

keep a compressor in the send FX, and use it over 2+ channels (for instance, closed hihats, open hihats and high frequency snares), and that way, you won't get a situation in which the treble or bass has short but extreme jumps that make the track sound worse.

QBASE,REASON,LOGIC..whatever..!!
If your machine is 'falling over' because you have too many plugins open.... set up banks of 'send effects' in the 'Groups'(Grp 1, Grp 2, Grp 3 etc).... then you can multi-effect using less 'processor power'..... different combinations in the Groups lets you effect sounds differently at the pop of a button(Master, Grp1, Grp2).....when you get what you want - export and mix it straight down....

my tip of the day, GET REASON 2.0
also if u wanna get a cool clubby felling when your building up for a rush, insert a filter right under the midi-in-device and follow up wit a mixer, create a sequncer track for the Effect and start tweaking also works with flanger etc etc etc but u might have to sync it and use bypass a few times
hope i helped....

1. When you reversed a crash cymbal you get an abrupt sweep in the end of the reversed crash, you know what I mean?
Just apply a linear fade out to the end and you're done.
2. I've mentioned this in the equipment forum, but in case someone missed:
Make sure the DMA option in your hard disk settings is checked (control panel/ system/ device manager/ + near disk drives/ properties/ settings).
If your hard drive supports this feature (which most of the new drives do), you'll get enhanced audio performance.
Cheers

Automation in Fruity loops
In order to set an automation for a certain channel, here's what you do.
take an Empty slot on the sequencer. next, choose the controler you wish to automate, and draw it up in the automation p-role.
next up, go to the playlist, and set this now automated slot (Say Slot 65 in the Playlist) in the begining of the part you want to be automated.
make sure you make seperate slots for other instruments, so you won't get clatter and overdubs.
