in the spirit of helping people out in creating music, I am opening up this thread in order to have everyone here post their tip for the day in how to create music. be it a fruitylooper, a cubaser, a man of reason - this can be a nice small spot for all those bits and bobs in one small hub, instead of going after illustrious threads..

so,
a small tip for lead parts on FL:
use the muon Electron, tweak it till you get the sound you like, and than, on the effects channels, put on a phaser, some reverb, add to it a paramEQ on the phone preset and add another EQ to balance the bunch.           "We Do Not Allways See Things As They Are. Cool thread!

Here's a little tip from me, to all You Reason Users out there:

- Create a simple pattern in the Sequencer
- now use the following setting:
Octace: 0
Waveform: 6
Modwheel: 127 (Max)

- Now use the following Filters:
RV-7
DDL-1
PH-90: Set the "Rate" knob to 24
Set the "Width" knob to 24

this should give you a killer lead synth sound - pure wickedness!

Great idea this thread is!

Here's an audio performance+Halion tip:
If you encounter difficulties playing back many audio parts in the sequencer all at once (especially with long samples), load them to halion; Assuming your processor is strong enough, the burdain will be move to it from the HD, allowing better performance in most cases (works fo me, at least ).

Here's a Tip for Reaktor:

When u want to create a Wide Stereo kind of effect (unison) - just add a static delay on one of the channels - with 5ms delay - or even controlable fader delay.
This will cause one of te channels to be a bit late after the other and create a feeling that each channel plays on its own - like wide stereo.

kicke'm up - if you want to make a kick sound better in fruity (3.1 and above), simply choose the kick punch preset in the fl param eq and tweak till you get that pounder you wanted.           "We Do Not Allways See Things As They Are. We See Things As We Are" -Ancient Chinese Proverb

Try adding Chorous to the hihats and snares
it will give u a stronger beat feeling by
smaring the hi-freq samples           :...' LEARN YOUR BRAIN '...:

i'll add to that - add chorus and than a flanger with about 5 nr. stages for that neat "flight" effect. i would do that on a seperate instrument though, so you can create a dialogue           "We Do Not Allways See Things As They Are. We See Things As We Are" -Ancient Chinese Proverb

using arpeggiator on hihats and drums
causing the drum to gain pitch
- when a drum / hihat gains pitch
it looses the attack and the sharpness
and the high-freq's maybe gain amplitude

that can cause a clipping or a distorted frequency

also , it sounds unproffesional
try using another drum or snare else...

try to avoid using pitch on hihats and snares
it just making the track sounds bad and unproffesional.           :...' LEARN YOUR BRAIN '...:

Synthesis tip:

Proceed as following In order to create a "bubbling" or "water like" sound effect, in any analog-modelled synth (virtual or hardware) with 2 LFOs and 2 filters:
Assign LFO 1 to filter 1, with a certain positive value, assign LFO 2 to filter 2 with the same value, but negative. Adjust the LFOs rate to different value and use one or two sine wave only (try it on white noise, also). Listen to the results and play with the parameters as needed. Add a delay and/or reverb, and that's it.
