"Timecode's summer slammer is a new spin on thier sound. Firewall is a full-on groove monster"

1. CPU comes on quick and strong with his Timecode debut! an ominous wind passes whisking us into the land of throbbinggrooving basslines! it gets snappy and intensifies gradually, the deep slamming and pumping lead gets going and then takes a breather, choosing to let things build more....the whole sound is shiney and crisp, ringing in a new wave of funky jams. the breakdown teases us with the drop back a couple times, yahooo and once it finally goes, the party will be feeling it, the thickness is definitely in charge. in fact, this rocker will definitely be taking over soon, its telling me all about the future of the earth and if we can keep stomping the dancefloors, everything will turn out alright. the track gets snagged on a passing airplane and stretches until it snaps.

2. Shift must have an army of elves working under his mind control, he makes so many crazy tracks! the firewall is intact and operating, according to the sample. this carries an intensity and heat that starts the atmosphere to sizzle and boil. a slick and grindey edge starts slicing its way thru the soundscape, and it unfolds to reveal a warm and strange environment, the big pads provide a cushion for the thumping wobble that is beginning again, and before long, the slicing edge attacks! the final run goes bonkers, a mad arpeggio comes in from underneath to heat up the whole place! damn thats hot.

3. The Brethren is a pairing of labelhead phyx, and tickets, who made his debut on the last comp - the encroachment. coming on strong as a tidal wave, the pair provides a caner with this track that is sure to rip dancefloors. lazers zooming overhead, a steady rolling bassline takes us away. some metallic clanging sounds give the percussion depth. The instruments are teaming up to thrash your brain, the listener is sent on a rollercoaster ride, a mad arpeggio shoots beams off to the horizon, it gets seriously slamming before the lazers have pretty much blasted everything in sight.

4. Twisted System gives us just a taste of thier skills again, before thier new album "The Dealers" is released in a few weeks which will surely shred heads. a mechanical funk pulses my woofers, as the sharp lead tweaks your headspace. a falling long synth makes my mind travel. a grindy element comes in to hint at darkness. a sample tells us something about artificial intelligence, then - we are sent on a crazy rocketship that fucking launches us into the most insane hyperspace tube. thru the ships windows all your past lives are rushing by in a multitude of colors as the engines rumble. Time and space rush by, then are packaged in a bubble, which bursts to send us reeling back towards the headspace.

5. a piano comes in to tickle the neurons in just the right way, single notes flowing into a strange delayed sizzle, then before you know it, the artifakt has tricked you again! a stomping drive, then a strange squeeky toy lead? the epic qualities are tickling, you can feel the tension building, funky bass drops and a playful sense of mind-fuckingness. a sizzly delay and a re-build before it all comes back in strong. definitely a weird one! the piano comes back in to delay off.

6. Rabdom L jumps in to show us who is the man, it just rocks. a fat pulse and some driving leads make for a dancefloor melting jam. great use of FX and composition gives a very serious groove. i am at a loss for words while i am dancing, trying to type but an alien language is trying to get out. this track has a very deep feeling, somehow it morphs into a blasting morning track with the melody shooting sparks backwards into the night.

7. Phyx has come up with some amazing tunes lately, he is on a roll again with this one that has maybe the deepest bassline on the disc. the bent lazers form a groove over the chunking delayed sounds. a distorted lead comes on to rock, some great changeups, great goo sounds, and overall stomping. thru the middle it takes the windy building road, which eventually leads us to the giant blasting ripping zonking jumpstart... the last two minutes are like riding a cyborg dinosaur thru dark battle dreamscapes, firing off lazer pulses.

8. Parisians Triskell vs Audiobrains make thier Timecode debut with this one, an overloaded computer anthem. glitchy digital sounds punctuate the grooving, and the great handdrum percussions create a flowing environment on which to surf. the bassline has some great accents, the track flows on and on, the lead instrument just straight up zooms properly, making this monster nearly epic in its scope.

9. Broken Toy, the sensational Damage side project, known for his tracks like "rockstar" and "baby" has his 2nd timecode release here with "the_zine family". dark atmospheres flux in the background, as the funky bassline pumps along. some neat Fx make the track full and moving along, it grows and goes along with a vengeance. a quick "yahoo" increases the excitement, the sample gives a moment to breathe but keeps the flow. then a watery, mysterious moment is provided, the final 2 minutes begins to build back up, and before long theres a distorted grindy lead tweaking all acidy like.

overall a sick collection of outdoor slammers. and while its not quite yet summer up here in north carolina, i can already picture crowds shaking thier ya-yas out to these heavy grooves. big ups to phyx for the advance.
