Pumping tracks that scorch the ground under your feet? The juicy acid-driven dance craze? We got something for you then: Tikal is ready to release his new album on Planet B.E.N. Records, and he's bound to intoxicate dance floors worldwide reciting colourful tales of musical psychedelia.
'Cosmic Dragon' is the 3rd solo album by the former Biodegradable, and again the Tikal full force will rock your socks off. Almost 2 years have passed since Vincent debut album on Neurobiotic records was celebrated round the globe. Three years being heavily in demand on the international psy scene, pushing on the big festival main floors with his live act and DJ sets, travelling round the trance world and back. All the while still releasing numerous tracks on some of the best psychedelic labels around 'Cosmic Dragon' brings part of this journey to you. With all of his experience Vincent has taken his project to the next level, taking full advantage of new possibilities in technology as well. You will hear it in his crystal clear production, super tight rhythmic work, massive basslines, and of course in the musicality of this album, being one of the main driving forces. What to be expected is a more full on sound, fat and juicy basslines, still uplifting and melodic with incursion into more nightish sound, It seems strange for me to try to categorize music. As artists did in the past and as artists will do in the future, they experiment with their art and it may take them to a lot of different places So, call it as you like, Vincent will infect you anyway in the near future and take you with him...
Personal Notes:
Very good album from Vincent, it really has a theme inside. It worth a listen indeed and some of the tracks can be really usefull for djs playing full on gigs.

Tracklist:
1 Meditation [10:02 146 bpm B-Minor]
The name of the track speaks for itself. Long intro, chill out atmosphere, well chosen voice sample regarding the meditation theme. 3 and half minutes introduction and them: Boom ! Here it starts. Massive bassline and this Goa feeling synth. The build up keeps going well, getting into a more high tech style, voice pads all over
Great starter.
2 Astro Man [06:24 145 bpm G-Minor]
The Full On classic. Strong bassline, TB 303 calling the synth line, filtered synths, pads and tribal voices (which you can see through all over the album). Melodic patterns keeping growing the track until its very last break. There it gets really melodic, kind of euro-trance feeling matching the TB acid feeling until it ends.
3 Control your Mind [07:00 145 bpm F-Minor]
Very sexy voices samples introduces it. Than this amazing sequence of effects matching each other and than combining with the intro voice. Its a really nice beginning of the track. Than it moves to the break, which after it there are multiple sensations: guitars, hard synth, melodic synth and groove bassline. For ending, of course, the sexy voice sample comes to finish it.
4 Sunshine Middle East Remix [10:03 145 bpm G-Minor]
Getting warmer and warmer
I was a fan already of the original track released at Tikals debut album and I can say this remix is a complete re-work of it. It keeps the strong full on feeling from the original one but in a top notch quality production. Start up with east tribal voices samples until the guitar + synth combination which goes very well. The best synth lines of the album in my opnion.
5 Solar Storm [08:06 140 bpm A-flat-Minor]
Tribal Frenzy. Tribal percussion, voices, pads, atmosphere
Everything blended in a triolis bassline. TB 303 acid groove going on as well. Nice one, it really embraces the album core theme. It accelerates all over until the end. Notice that if you consider the triolis build up the bpm can fit in 105 as well.
6 Red Sun [07:00 145 bpm A-Minor]
My favorite here. Classic piano for the start, the usual full on side chain compressed synth to drop the powerful bassline
Than the break ! Lovely Spanish guitar there. Which is suddenly interrupted by a short trick and than the massive moving is back. I love to be surprised and this break really does that ! Is important to remember that all the good stuff melt together to finish it.
7 Black Space [06:53 145 bpm E-flat-Minor]
Full On Groovy !! The traditional landing on moon voice samples to start, than a very interesting bassline. Amazing pads and effects giving this epic feeling to the track. It grows and grows until it transform it self in an emotive and melodic track. Very melodic synth line (beautiful one) and bass note changing to be fully emotive and epic in the end.
8 Lunar Human [07:33 143 bpm E-Flat-Minor]
Now pure Groovy ! From the start almost to the end. Very well done vocoder voice. Melodical patterns
Another favorite
It grows purely groove until the 5 minutes where the last break comes, and the full on power is released, right on time.
9 Resonant Earth [07:35 145 bpm A-Minor]
This track, which is the last dance music track of the album, brings together the best of happened before, all in one. Tribal voices, guitars, melodic patterns, acid TB, sweet pads, sexy samples
It was very well chosen to almost finish the album, again you can go emotive with it. The electric guitar its present from the beginning until the end with cool variations of it.
10 Crystal Wind [08:07 110 bpm A Minor]
Here it comes the very end of it. Pure chill out track, full of east voices samples. Very well worked to finish it with a golden key. Melodical slowly ending
Favorites: 1, 3, 4, 6!!!, 7!, 8!!

Track num 4 is great, but it would be fair to thank Mr. Hanz Zimmer and his great work on BHD for the chant don't you think?
Anyways it works on the dancefloor
I don't use ideas. Every time I have an idea it's too limiting, and usually turns out to be a disappointment. But I haven't run out of curiosity. -RR |

From Tikal's debut album to this one, I can tell Tikal is always improving themself.
I love the female/male vocal, acoustic guitar, percussion...etc.
The samples that Tiakl picked for each track are always very impressed.
All the samples are like magic powder that makes the picture of each track alive and shining with groovy kick/bass patterns and fluent synth.
Not to mention every time I spin Tikal's tracks in the early morning outdoor party, there is always positive vibe and strong enery flowing out of the dance floor.
I would say....this one is full of the spirit of psychedelica!!!
