i think this kind of topics only create division between people, the first post was just a video, no ideas really, and that kinda creates the problem, there was no idea to debate, just a video...
it turned into an interesting discussion but now its just darkpsy vs dubstep vs pavel vs axis vs whatever...
if someone can ellaborate more their opinions beyond lolpics would be awesome 
i guess the interesting part of the discussion is
what do you really think is the future of psytrance?
and how dubstep is it related or NOT to it
but dubstep and darkpsy bashing, i think we had enough, maybe we can talk about music without turning into a nonsense topic?

You are right but,every topic must turn into nonsense at some point...I think that people in this forum have no idea what future of psytrance might be and my opinion is that disusing future of psytrance is nonsense. |

The futures of psytrance and dubstep might be entwined, if not to the extent of one taking over the other. From superficial obeservation I have noticed there is a fair bit of compatibility in the crowds of either style, so at many festivals there may be a peaceful co-existence between genres. 1-2 dubstep sets at a psyfestival which lasts several days, why not - as long as it manages to meet the expectations of the crowd and fits the vibe and spirit.

There's been plenty of dubstep at small & the major psy festivals here in Australia over the last few years.
It's caused much debate, and many people don't want it as it attracts a certain type of non-psy punter who are just better to stay at their inner-city clubs.
I like some of the more experimental dubstep but stuff like Skrillex or Skream etc. just sounds like cheap horrible shite.
I would very much like to hear some proper glitchy Psykovksy style dubstep released, just not under the psy trance moniker.
It's like Ticon releasing club style progressive EDM under psy, it doesn't work & they should move on to the paroled scene associated to their sounds.

I'll probably get some flaming for writing this. But the reason why so many ex.psytrance producers still release and play their prog.house/techno flavored music within this scene is because the majority will never gain the same fame in the way more established prog.house and techno scenes. There are simply a much bigger competition and a much longer climb up the ladder than staying in the psytrance scene where they are already known (and get bookings no matter their style of music) - even when the fact is they do not make music related to psychedelic trance any longer.

oh yeah , back to the debate!
i have to say i agree fully with all the statements above, its quite cool to see how together we can define a 'criteria' about trance, this is what's debate is all about, after all we are shaping the scene here as well...
also open question to everyone
is there anything within trance that you feel is the 'future'?

It's all about supply and demand.
Ticon and Minilog will continue to play on both sides as long as they will be invited. They do excellent job and appeal to many different people. It's like when I was at Gogol Bordelo gig a year ago and saw there punks, geeks, metalheads and psytrancers. Everybody loves their music
