Just trying to find out how important are apps for people with alternative lifestyle and which types of apps people prefer or can't go without.

Two basic factors seem to be important for such a study :

1. Alternative people tend to have less money to spend on apps and mobile devices. How much do you / would you spend on apps and devices on average?

2. What types of apps do you use most: for music and making digital art, for your everyday life (like sport, health, smart home etc), for your jobs and businesses, for knowledge bases and encyclopedia or just for fun and communication?

Which are the best apps for you ever?

Just curious to know how you see this, not only because I worked in the mobile media industry in the last two years but also because I really want to know if making an app for leisure activities has any sense at all .

p.s. sorry if I already asked you that and forgot that I did ( wanted to do it since one year:)

in addition to the question, i would like to point out to another interesting fact that most people probably do not know ( i did not either, till i read some magazine specials on the issue).

did you know that israel is the second best place for tech startups worldwide after the silicon valley according to prestigious tech scene investigators?

http://www.techinasia.com/israel-startup-nation/

unfortunately i have no israeli near me to ask him how he sees the situation. how spread are apps in the second best startup nation? is the interest in cybernetics or augmented reality correlated to the interest in apps? if so, why there is not much trance in san francisco?

Here is something interesting. May be there is anyone here who loves music as much as java patterns? Isnt it sometimes strange how little attention programmers get in comparison to those who just click their software around?

From the description:

Want to turn your mobile device into a musical instrument? Or equip your game with interactive audio, rather than canned samples? You can do it with Pure Data (Pd), an open source visual programming environment that lets you manipulate digital audio in real time.

-------

Okey, end of research . No apps in the world of a trancer. Or may be all discussions about it happen on facebook nowadays and you have a link to one of them? Or may be I am just good adviced to act commercially and "find the others".

can't go without? none.

1. about 1€ per 2-3 years.

2. mostly flight/hotel-booking related stuff for travelling (when i don't have a computer with me) as well as calculators (for work/studying) and a game every now and then.

the best app ever was ireversi. it prompted me to finally give in and buy a smartphone, but the servers for that were shut down and nothing comes close.

i do music at home, when i have time - and obviously have my computer - so for me an app for music production would be pointless.

Apart from the apps that I need for my daily business, here are some of my favourites for my free time:

Observing the stars and planets in the sky from any given location where you happen to be:

Checking the ephemerids at any given second - very useful if you are outside and want to prove if a coinscidence has a further meaning in the star constellations:

(But it is probably made for experts and it should be developed further to make interpretation easier for a beginner)

Location Based Apps for routes and trekking - thousands of them, wherever you are. Probably these kind of apps will experience a revolution with the arisal of government open source data ( then you see every detail about the forest, the flora and fauna and the geography of a place - extremely interesting), for example:

And of course, nature apps with loads of bioaccoustic issues:)

...and many many more....

An i-phone app - yes, but a tablet app can be useful in some situations because of the location based factor together with smart functions in big size.

the book above is not so much about music production with an app but about music production FOR an app. something like this job description would do:

sound engineer for apple

Isn't an additional battery easier to carry than a whole heavy laptop?

On that side you can buy that one for Franz Liszt Sonata in b minor. Looks really fine. So you can buy it just for smarthphone? ..I think thats dumb for this kind of small screen.. laptop would be nicer, but really interesting application.           https://soundcloud.com/shivagarden
