ahahaha.....there is a huuuge diference between a "free album download" and a "1 euro" one ...but let's see....even a quarter of them would be enough for me...

now, driven by me or not, itwill not change the fact that it will be hard to reach everyone...and then to convince them to upload...specially those who don't make music anymore. Again, it s a question of time...

About the wav files...it is really hardto do..i am planning to do some special wav file tack ifsome good name willmake an exclusive track for the site, but for normal released tracks, i can't...it is simply too big...a wav file is around 80M when a mp3 at its best quality is around 17M ...big difference when it is the moment to pay the server ...fornow it is cool, we have a bit more than 300tracks...but when we will speak in thousands, it will be harder...

But i am plannig also, if the site goeswell, to make some UNRELEASED COMPILATIONS esclusively for this site...maybe it will become he following of mind control records...release albums in cds, but compilations exclusively on mp3 on the site...but this is next step....first, the site needs tobe more full...

Music for 1 euro may have more quality than free one, but thanks to sites like http://www.seretronika.net people know artists music.
And not all trancers have the money to buy music from the net.

The cool thing about this trancepool site is that you can listen to the whole track so it is open to any people wanting to know artist music.

Now if u really like it and i mean you really like it, come on paying 1 euro for that it is a joke. People in Mexico lose more money in supermarket donation campaigns(masked free my taxes campaign) or giving to guys in the corners for charity.

These times we are living in, the music is better, the price is lower, and the distribution is wider. What else do we want?
A quality album for 1 euro, come on trancers with no money go get a part time job

But I think we are going off topic here sorry guys

yes, but what you listen full is a low quality track...it is converted in 128kps while most of the filesthatyou ll getwhen you ll pay will be 320kps...

But yes, to be abble to listen to it in full lenght is something i really wanted...enough from those 30sec samples where you can not have a real idea of the tracks...!!!

And i didn t say that i will put my next album for one euro..ahahah....it just said that IF half f the people who downloaded my album for free (on my website...) would give me one euro, it would be more than enough !! but this is not the case for now....and my next album will be only 4 tracks anyway....ehehe....it is a concept album like zodiac was, butthis time i took the four seasons...so 4 tracks of 20 minutes each...so maybe 1 euro each track would still be very fair!!!..ahaha...

wow, someone posted:

Syb Unity Nettwork.

I´ve been looking for their track Lost World, featured in Rumour Record´s Goa Trance 2, for ages. Impossible to find, and I just can´t forget the magic of that track!

Good idea Talamasca! Wish you great luck!

we will of course add a "search artist", but for now, you can already type an artist name down the "TrancePool Viral Widget Player Creator " and it will show you the tracks of this artist, or label....but again, the site is very new for now, except here, i haven't spoke about it except to some artists because i need them to upload before to promote the site...

and for the "trance history" tracks, it will take some time...i spoke for now with trancewave, hallucinogen, oforia, chakra and few more..all ageed with the idea....but it will take some time beforee they upload....trance artists are lazy...but it will be a kind of snowball effect, it will begin slwly and the more artist we will get, the more artist will be interested...

What sort of traffic are you looking at? I host all the releases on my site in full WAV quality for free download and have about 30,000+ downloads a month (of full releases in 320k MP3 and WAV; multiply that by 9 or 10 for the number of tracks). All of this on a hosting plan that costs me less than $30 a month!

BTW, did those 40,000 downloads of your album translate to decent or above average CD sales? I bought one at least

how many tracks do you have on your website ?...honnestly i haven't checked, but wav is big...and long to download for many people on the planet...specially those who "interest" me, i mean those for who it is very hard to find music...those who don't have cd shops near their home, and who have slow internet connections.....when they have a computer...in india, africa, south america...
wav files would be long for them to download froman internet coffee...and that 's why MP3 is good for this.

Now, on the website, as long as it is the artist orthe label who upload their tracks, you can send them a private message if you really need the wav file...when you buy a track to someone, he will see your "trancepool" contact, and he can send you a private message too...so i am surethatif you buy a mp3 to someone, and send him a private message to get the wav file by any link on internet, he would accept...
and again, in the future, when the site will run, we will put "exclusive" tracks on wav file...

Also, i forgot to mention that our player can be used as a radio...just type the name of an artist or label in the "launch radio, type keyword" ofthe player and if there is anything with this name in our database, it will play the tracks... but it wasnot the oal ofthe topic to promotethe websiteexactly...so i didn t speak about it...but when i will begin to promote it, i wil explain all the options we found

For my album, ok...it is less than 40000...i think it is just a bit more than 35000 downloads, with something like 15000 from brazil...and i sold between 6000 and 7000 copies, with mostly half in Japan...as always for any cd... i think it is quite good compare to the market nowadays...so did i sell this number because i am a "name"or because 35000 people could listen to it before ?...hard to know...but i know that Void had the same number of downloads...maybe bit more because all israel eard about their album download..but i don't know how many they sold...

Cedric, I would like to address some of the points you make in your post.

1) WAV is big: very true, but broadband is becoming nearly universal. If space is a concern you look into FLAC, which is starting to become industry-standard for lossless audio compression. I host something close to 1,000 songs on my site and find that about 25% of my visitors download the WAVs. This is quite significant! People want lossless quality!

2) Those who "interest" you: I doubt this "internet cafe" demographic will ever drive a lot of sales. People in these places use P2P and release blogs to download music. The people who actually buy the most music will always be serious collectors and DJs--and this demographic is much more likely to demand lossless quality audio. This is doubly true for old school Goa trance fanatics! Besides, offering lossless audio does not preclude selling MP3s of differing bitrates to the "internet cafe" demographic you speak of.

3) Artists/labels manually delivering WAV files after the sale of an MP3: this will never work. No way! Consumers won't want to bother with doing things that way and artists and labels will find it is too much of a hassle to keep up with it. You'll just lose sales.

Essentially, I would like to make the case that all serious digital download shops need to be offering lossless quality downloads in 2008 and beyond.

ok, i ll keep this in mind and i will find a way to put wav files....but in the end, it will be the artist who will upload who will decide if he will upload mp3 or wav..or both...
Thanks for the tip...

Great Idea Cedric!!

add Killing Joke to the pool.

If you can get labels or artists to re-issue albums that are no longer available but are very popular it would be great as well. a lot of the old music is unavailable anymore and that's a shame..           'I became tuned in on the network of neurological signals and cellular wisdoms that radiate at hundreds of millions per second.'
