I just wanted to say a HUGE thanx to all those crazy SA artists (Shift, Broken Toy, Phyx, Rinkadink etc...), all this stuff released by them, that never been heard before, I call it neu full-on. maybe it can catagorised as a new sub-genre ?

i'm not into catagorising Psy-Trance, but you must admit this doesn't sound at all like "old full-on" (starting from classics like Transwave, Cosmosis, Green Nuns etc up to latest G.M.S. and G.M.S. like, Skazi and similiar Israeli artists, Psycho Micro, Parasense and russian mafia and Acidance Records etc...)
basically 70% sounding too much chaotic, or silly or simply tasteless and made mostly from some random pile of bleeps and blops IMO.

what do you think about all this issue ?

Hagai i dont know about the 2nd paragraph, but i do agree that SA has been my source of constant steady excellent trance in 2003.

While there is indeed a lot of good music coming out of South Africa, I tend 2 have a problem w/ the LACK of chaos, bleeps & blops. 2 me a lot of it sounds 2 'ravey' & is highly predictable, which irritates me.

Don't get me wrong, I luv my big leads & so forth, but I think 4 the most part (& I stress that this is a matter of PERSONAL taste), a lot of the South African gear sounds the same.

Well Sam, I do agree that this is a more or less a "formula", but please don't forget that all of these are artists are pretty much a tribe, all coming from the same country, going to the same parties, sometimes working together, and basically influencing each other.

well i dunno about neofullon out of SA since i 1) dont know what the word means, 2) dont believe in the meaning of the word, 3) there is already another zillion labels for that style.
but whats coming out of SA is definetly worth a look at. or even two, if u consider the gr8 SA release of impulse at micro dot rec's. my review will follow...cheers           Anakoluth A Pebble in Your Eardrum's Shoe since 2001!

Whatwhatwhatwhatwhat?!?!?!?
Have you heard yourself. I hope you are sarcastic. I tend to dislike some of the SA artists because it is TOO chaotic. The sounds tend to be more for industrial music. They dont have the "Oforia" sound which is the pretty much the guy responsible for the "full-on" sound that we are used to today.

Have you heard the Shift albulm??!?!?
Have you heard the Artifakt albulm?!?!?!
Have you heard Phyx?!?!?

I dont know which SA artist you are talking about to say that it "ravey" since the "ravey" label would more likely be a sound like Darude, or some old AcidTrance like the Liberator bros or Rowland the Bastard or some NUNRG( UK HardHouse at 180 bpm ).

I dont want to sound too aggressive in this post, Im just wondering why you think the SA sound is too "ravey" when it clearly sticks out more of a "darker" psytrance with a huge contrast between the bass frequencies and the high frequencies, usually missing that round mid-section.

anyways, thats just my opinion

Artifakt is a perfect example. Im not sure if Artifakt comes from South African, but im pretty sure he comes from Africa. His sound is so great! I have been jamming to Beetle ever since it has come out. Shift is great too. sooo chaotic!

there has to be something in the water down in SA, great artists come from there!
