I recommend to buy B2031A and later you can upgrade to 2.1 system (monitors 300 + sub 200euros. cheap invests and pretty nice point to start work with monitors. I've test them with a mic and frequency response seems to have pretty flat response between something around 100hz-16khz (manufacturers specs 50hz-21khz). most prolly caused by room acoustics. I used subwoofer to recover sub's area 30-100hz.

Are the tweeters on their actives as amazing as the hifi ones?
|
|
I wouldnt know, as Ive never heard their hifi speakers. They do claim to use beryllium domes in both, if they differ I cant say.
What I can say, is that the tweeters in the BE6 are very nice compared to anything ive been working with before. They started out a bit harsh in the beginning, but after a few weeks of usage, they have (to my perception) become sweeter. This is also something other users have reported, aswell as reported from the manufacturers.
Just installed some acoustical treatment in the room im using, and wow, this setup rocks. Cant wait to get my Lynx Aurora in place of the Saffire

Nice..I have a pair of 807V's at the moment and went through the same thing with the tweeters. They don't believe in ferrofluid cooling (ie, 95% of dome tweeters out there), with the idea that it can only slow them down, and I definitely agree after having these for 3 or 4 months.
They just fill the room so well..with the right mix and room they can get very 3 dimensional. Try Hallucinogen - Mi-Loony-Um! (the dub mix) with the lights off..

Yeah. Im totally pessimistic about all my mixes after I heard Perfect Stranger - Free Cloud on the monitors... Atlough it definetively makes it easier to mix, as you actually can hear whats going on.
But at the same time you get 100x more picky, as you can hear the details so clearly...
When I first got the monitors, I spent about half an hour listening to the kick-drum in the startup template of FL; ive heard this kick a million times, but this time it was like I heard it for the first time... so much detail Ive never heard before...
Yes, veeeeery 3-dimentional. Bet they are awsome to trip with ;p

You should really just wait a while and save for something better..it'll be difficult (if not impossible) to mix on those. 4 inch woofers just aren't enough for psy.
If you can wait a little longer, Alesis Monitor 1's or Behringer B3030A/B2030A's (all around $300/pair) would be a good place to start.

thanks, maybe i will stick with this alesis monitors one, if it is really 300 a pair.
I just dont want to wait anymore, cause i m using a shit ipod speaker, so it`s really difficult to do anything with this, i think when i buy the monitors everything will sound totally different than i think
edit.: how about the B3030A/B2030A's ? Is worth it? Just asking cause behringer doesnt have the best reputation...
edit2: just take a look at the behringers, the b3030a will be realesed only in 4/28, and in almost the same price as the b2030a, bah, but i really didnt want to wait one more month but maybe i will
are these the alesis?

Yep..those are the Monitor 1's. I haven't heard the Behringers to compare them to, so you'll have to check some reviews or listen in a store if possible.
Behringer doesn't have the best reputation because they choose to sell only entry level products..they aren't completely terrible, you're just getting what you pay for. Like d2 said, you'll probably be upgrading from whatever you get in the near future anyway, and probably well before a pair of Behringers would wear out.
If you're in the US, try to buy them in a Guitar Center with cash..they can probably sell you either for $260-270 if you say that's all you have.

Hello,
I'm planing to buy a pair of Adam A7 sooner or later, and i'm wondering something about the stand.
Is it necessary to have a "true" stand or would it be the same to put the speakers on a pile of books (the books being on a wooden desk), knowing that i'd add some mopad either way?
Thanks. |

I used have mine on just Mopads, which did help the sound. Bt stands made the biggest difference. Especially when you sand fill them and use spikes. I cut my desk down to accommodate my monitors on stands and a more ideal listening position. I think a lot of people don't actually prioritize monitor position when they first consider their layout. I am not likely to ever loose the stands. The improvement is just too great. |

Thanks for the answer d2!
I guess i'll have to manage somehow.
Another acoustic question i have.. is it that bad to have a cube-like room? Its like 3m3 (cube) and i remember reading that equal or proportional distances between the w/h/l was awful for acoustic matters. |

Yep a cube is bad news for acoustics!! you have read correctly Isao. I would go as far as recommending changing to a different room if you can. |

Dang, then i'm screwed for a few years lol.
I guess i'll put the frustration on some more money saved for a better setup once i'll get a good enough room.
Thanks a lot for the answers anyway, probably avoided me to waste money. |

If your ceiling isn't 3 meters from the floor, it isn't as bad...I'm not sure if you're referring to a true cube or not.
