The Samsons have NO bass..I would recommend almost anything over them. I've also heard the TR6 and TR8..I though they sounded "good", but not very accurate, even for the price range. I also heard from people who have owned a pair that they aren't very high quality and usually need repaired/replaced within 2 years at most. I'm not sure how I feel about Tapco..I tend to not pay attention to subsidiary companies for some reason (Tapco is owned by Mackie).
For under $600 (pair), I would recommend the Mackie MR5's or Yamaha HS50M's.
There's also a new Adam at $400 each, much better than everything mentioned above, if you can afford it. (Sorry..had to mention it )
All of this is just my opinion, as always. Go and listen to as many as you can in the price range, and read some reviews on what you're considering.

Thnx, I have checked the prices on MR8, looks like it might work for extra $35. I am assuming MR5 doesn't come with bass (60hz-20khz) yeah too bad I can't afford Adams, will upgrade someday. I am still open to ideas

Yeah the MR5's and HS50M's are kinda designed to be used with a sub...the MR8's have plenty of bass though, as do the HS80M's (Although I would still prefer Mackie over Yamaha because of all the quality issues I've heard about).

What would you say if I could get a slightly used (6hr project as they state) Mackies MR8 for around $450 that's $200 of savings for me!!! Would you get it? Or spend more and get a pair from the store?

I would on ebay or from someone you know...just for your own protection. Are there no returns? As long as it looks legit $200 off sounds great.
Those will take more than 6 hours to break in anyway.

Well I found a personal ad, so no returns there, e-bay doesn't have any here in Canada and importing from US isn't cheap either. I'll try to check them out anyway

I'm thinking of buying new monitors for my home studio. My room is very small and there are no windows on it, and a wooden door. Is KRK RP 5 G 2 enough for me?

Best bet if it's a good deal/available is to go to a Guitar Center. They have a 30 day return policy which should be plenty of time to try em out in your room.

I started out with the first generation of Rokit 5's. I haven't heard the new ones yet, but I wouldn't recommend low end KRK's...or high end KRK's.
If you have to go with something in that price range I would get the Fostex PM-1 MKII's or Mackie MR5's.

DYNAUDIO BM15A vs. GENELEC 8050APM vs. ADAM S2.5A vs. Monitors less than 3000e/pair
Has anyone tested these? or do you got any links to reviews? =) any kind of information would be grateful. I'm Planning to test few pairs of monitors and i'm on choosing these 3 pairs for testing =)
I want fat sound that it really kicks ass, so would it be time to choose midfield monitors? I'm not sure if I feel nearfield so, you know powerfull

^ Are you looking for a good sound or an accurate one? There's a huge difference.
Keep in mind the reason people use nearfield monitors. The idea is that since they're only 3-5 ft. away from you, you won't need to play them as loud, making the room's influence on the sound less pronounced. If you're looking at midfield monitors, you'll need a relatively large room and another 3000e to invest in room treatment to achieve the same sound. This is pointless in a home studio.
Out of those monitors, I'd go with the Adam s2.5a any day, based on personal experience.

I've heard the BM15As and the Genelec 8050s (although in different rooms). They both sound great. Liked the BM15As more. With a pair of those and a pair of the good ol' Yamaha NS-10s, you can't go wrong.

I cannot find anyone selling Yahama's? Is there some updated models available?
anyway, I have read before that many producers and studios prefers them. "they are used all studios and everywhere, because once you mix with NS-10 it sounds good thru all systems"
But, at this moment I'm with 2 different speaker systems + monitor control + interface
1.Active Near Field Monitors for accurate =)(ADAM S2.5A or DYNAUDIO BM15A)
2.Passive Hifi speakers for good sound =) (AMPHION HELIUM2) + (basic integrated amp)
*SM PRO AUDIO M-PATCH 2 for control
*MOTU ULTRALITE MKIII for sound
What do you think is there quality balance between each component in this kind of setup?

I can't find them either mate. I don't wanna buy them off e-bay cause I wanna check them out first. The thing with the NS-10s is that they have have no bottom end and they are definitely not your first pair in the studio.
If the mix is not spot on, it will sound shite.
I used them a lot in Uni, it takes a lot of experience and great mixing abilities to make them sound nice. Everything I put through them sounded below average, unless it was one of Dado's tunes.
