hey guys, i really need monitors, ist very important i see..
with my outdated logitech 5.1 system in my room i am very limited in creating basslines
with my technics headphones ist also bad to do basses...
so i decided to buy some monitors!

i read which ones are good (dynaudio etc.) but my budget is very low.
i think about 500€ maybe a little bit more, for one pair active monitors second hand.

right now i saw 2 cheap active monitor pairs on ricardo.ch (swiss-eBay):
Behringer MS16 - 70€
yamaha MSP-5 - 270€
Fame 1050 AM - 200€
Fame 1080 AM - 450€

anyone tested these? are these ok?
or are they worth buying? thx

Can someone advise me on the monitors Yamaha HS 50M. I listen to it and was pleased with the performance. The price is 320euros...

Im in doubt between:

Yamaha HS 50M
SAMSON Rubicon R6A
KRK RP5

This is all my budget allows

I just got the HS50M and they are way better than I thought them to be! I think a good choice for a small studio...

As i said i had the same experience with these monitors my only doubt is the bass!!!!

Can you tell me something about it? My "studio" has 20m2.....

What would you say about HS80M?           Monitoring devices, know where you go

The yamahas are good, but all depends of your needs, i found dificult to control exactly the bass with 5" monitors, even with 8" monitors with polypropilene woofer, but this are my experiences, most important is to reference your monitors to artists you like and not to what you think they should sound, EX: A 5" monitor should not have the bass of a subwoofer, if you have this always in mind when monitoring you should get good results.

a couple of questions for you guys:

1) thoughts on buying new vs. used? i understand it's a gamble when buying used and shit can go wrong. on the other hand, good monitors seemed to be built like a tank and generally last for years and years without any issues. i want to pick up a pair of BM5a's. i can get them new for $1000US and for 70 more can get a 2-year warranty for a peace of mind (70 more won't make a big difference if you're already dropping a grand on them). on the other hand, there are a bunch of them on ebay clearly in a Like-new condition that i can pick up for 700-800...

2) BM5A + sub vs. BM6A. i like the first option since i can get 5a's now and then add a sub later IF i decide that i really need it. on the other hand, if you think 6As are clearly a better option, I might as well get them now and enjoy them for the next 5-10 years and avoid the whole selling/upgrading hassle later on. i do have the $$$, though it 'd be kind of difficult to bring myself to spend that much on studio monitors right now.

any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

if youre going to buy used , i suggest to go by yourself to check them , and of course go by yourself to pick them , personally i would never want a pair of good monitors to travel within any type of vehicle (courier etc.) when are repacked (of course it is not the same as new unopened shielded boxes), but you should really have to check em by your own

If these two are your final choices .. then BM6a with eyes closed , i dont think theres any need for a sub
keep your money and invest on acoustic treatment
Bm6 will last much more than ten years
choice is yours

Mackie just came out with the new MR-8's. Quite a bit cheaper than their other models, but its still a Mackie. Anyone had a chance to listen to these yet ?
