hs80 is for sure better than alesis mk2, the alesis seem too exagerated on the bass and personally i don't like them.

diogo c i own a pair of hs80, you're saying i should lay them on there sides while makin psy?

yes, i use them on horizontal position, tweeters pointing out....much better sound imaging - more bass too but the image is the best improvement i found placing them this way.

one more tip - i've seen dozens of engineers putting a small piece of cloth on ns-10's tweeters, and one of these engineers was BOB ROCK. for those who dont know him, it was the guy who mixed and produced metallica's black album. so i decided to try this trick, and was nice! much smoother high-end and more bass/mids focus, and its very handy for working on large periods of time.

Hi, I'm using Event 20/20's with a Samson Servo 500 amp. I've only had them for a few months but I have nothing else to compare them with. I'm thinking of getting some self powered monitors but I'm not quite sure if I'd be in a better position. If any one is familiar with Event 20/20s I'd like to know what you think of them.

i had the dynaudio bm6a mk1 and mk2 in my studio all day and ive been a/b testing them all day with all kind of music and also mixing.

i dont know how to write the review because they dont sound very different from each other.
they both sound deep, but mk2 sounds little more detailed. they both go loud enought.
the mk1 sounds little warmer, it sounds little different from mk2 in the low end, must be coz of the mosfet amps...
in the end my choice was mk2 not because its cheaper but becasue it sounded little better to my ears, little more detailed.
so in the end its all about personal taste but i say that both monitors will do the job good.

just wanted to let you know :
i've bought alesis m1 actives 620 , went to the store to listen to them.
I was planning to buy mackie hr624 or krk rp 8 , listened to both, and then i accidently listened to the alesis, and weird as it is , they sounded much better, much more detail imo, the mackie was too bassy and the krk just sounded muddy.
and i must say i'm still very happy about them, they have accustical corrections at the back, so if you're speakers are in a corner you can compensate somewhat.
Really think its weird because they cost me
300 euro a pair, while the mackie's or krk would have me costed at least double!

maybe you like it more coz its closer to a killer hifi speaker than a studio monitor

Can someone advise me on the monitors Yamaha HS 50M. I listen to it and was pleased with the performance. The price is 320euros...

Im in doubt between:

Yamaha HS 50M
SAMSON Rubicon R6A
KRK RP5

This is all my budget allows

My advice is EMU PM5 as a first step, its ok for a start for sure. And its not expensive.( i know thats not in your list, but think about it.)

Second step should be dynaudio bm6a but its expensive.           Beyond

Has the addition of a Sub helped anybody to up their production quality in the low end? I've got a Pair of Krk RP8's and I want to get the sub to go with them but I wanted to get some opinions about adding a sub.           ~Airyck~
