Got a pair of Reveal 8D's set up now, and I am very impressed.
Some stuff sounds awful on them and some stuff sounds really great, so they really seem to live up to their name by being very good at revealing flaws.

Plenty of power with decent bass response and definitely a big step up from the old reveals which I also thought was very nice monitors that tended to translate very well.           (``·.¸(``·.¸(``·.¸¸.·`´)¸.·`´)¸.·`´)

Hey tsabeat,

Who told you the MKII has a bigger bass? Also what exactly does the crossover frequency determine? Anyway from what i read the MKII has a smaller cabin, less powerful amp & apparently the parts used in it are inferior to the original MKI..

I have the original BM6A MKI & auditioned the ADAM's too, any of these two will be good..The ADAM's possibly have a smoother and more open high end, the BM6A's a better low end, its all a matter of choice really, i preferred the sound of the Dynaudios..

If you're going to get a sub it might be tricky unless your studio has acoustic treatment..

really a matter of taste, for just a little more money you can get the p 22 the focal and 8040 + sub, it worth to wait a bit more imo. when i bought the p 22 i lisented to the focal too and they have a lot more detail that the bm6a and the genelec .i see the bm6a and genelc good for making tracks, focal as pure mixing monitors and adam between .

I wouldn't suggest getting a sub for a un-treated room as this will cause more problems than solve them..

Anyway i agree with PoM, if you can spare another $500 you can either get ADAM P22A's or Dynaudio BM15A's which will give you more bottom end..

Otherwise for your budget i think the BM6A MKI's are the way to go..           http://www.soundcloud.com/getafixmusic

You can't go wrong with Adams or Dynaudios, can't comment on Genelecs, never heard them.
With BM6a (MKI)you'll get a little more bass, but bass on Adams is more tight and better defined IMHO. Mids and highs...well, some people just can't stand the sound of the ribbons (used in Adam's Art tweeter), I find it pleasing to work with and more revealing than dome tweeters, but it's really a matter of taste. Anyway, both speakers are great - you should give them a try in an A/B shootout Greetz,
I.

in this price range all are very good!

i would prefer something from adam or dynaudio over the genelec but its all a matter of taste really !

i have tested all of the monitors and i find the best in adams although dynaudio come very close and they are widely used in dance music!

genelecs have the most hifi sound for my taste they are easy on the ears and give the impression of a flattering monitor when compared to the more dry and revealing sound of the other 2!

just listen to each of them if u can and choose the one that u liked more!

how much for the bm6a where you live tsabeat? the adam p 22 are 1600 euro the pair here, if you can a/b them to the dyns insteed of the p11( maybe the p 11 are a better choice in small room but the p22 work great too )the bm6a don t worth more than their old price ,the tweater is outdated compared to other monitors of the same price like adam or focal.

Ive had the good fortune of working in pro audio shops por the last few years now and have heard pretty much all monitors on the market, and have owned a few til i found my babies. This is my two bits:

Adam: A7 are very good in mids and used with Sub 8 make a killer monitoring system but very open hi's that are a bit much after a while. If youre into bright sound this combo when well tuned is kiler!!!
Was very dissapointed with P11, old version was sloppy in bass, now supposedly new amps has bettered this.

Dynaudio BM5A MKII super killer monitor, more round and fat that BM6A MKI although this is more analytical, prefer the new BM5A s and have heard various people mixes on them in trance that sound great on systems costing 3 times as much. My recomendation! More mellow sound that Adam, there s apassive version thats great too (if youre on a budget), cant go wrong with these, trust me! BM6A MKII is lame about 1 cm bigger for the rest identical and sounds worse for 200 eu more ??? (Dyns are used by GMS, Shiva Chandra, Sangeet, Earthling, Sangeet, Beauty and the Beat and and and...)

Genelec: Hifi ish mids but classic studio box, not for me though, except maybe 1030 APM

Ultimate monitor: Klein + Hummel O 300 ... 3 way active closed design, friggin expensive but if you have the loose change and a bit to spare for accoustics you'll never look at another monitor advert again. This is as clean as it gets, only thing that sounds Hifi on them is Shpongle

Feel free to visit the site of the shop i work for: www.digitalaudioservice.de for cool prices and great support.

Happy mixing

Anybody knows something about these goodies?

Tascam VL-X5

They got pretty good reviews, and I'm curious whether any of you encountered them.
