hehe I'm planning to get an emu xboard...just for the keys mainly, I dont need more knobs in my studio

from what I heard and tested, the keys of it are unbeatable in that price range...

anyone got experience with it?          https://soundcloud.com/hazak

The M-audio axioms come with knobs (and faders on the larger ones) and I quite like the keyboard action. But another bonus is 8 pads for triggering drums...pretty useful.

I personally did not like the construction quality of the Emu. It feels a little too lightweight for me to trust it. A few years ago I worked for a music hardware company, so it's a personal opinion but with some professional experience.

Also, you don't get any midi ports with it - this may or may not matter, depends if you use any hardware. On the plus side, you get the Proteus LE soft synth, which is not bad, and it comes with a lot of sounds. So you get some good hip hop and techno libraries to work with, and a lot of filters.

thanx for your reply mate!

I really need the controller just for the keys, to try out some things or so...and the emu got defenately the best keys in that price range in my opinion (paid 125€ for it)

most M-audio keys I tried were pretty plastic like and not even half-weighted

Another HUGE fan of the Novation Remote SL!!!! A great little controller, nice weighted keys + the Automap is SWEET! saves lots of time, and the SPEEDDIAL is an amazing little feature.

I don't like the knobs at all on the Axioms..they're that kind of clicky, endless rotation types that make live tweaking really difficult.

Just my opinion..           You believe in the users?
Yeah, sure. If I don't have a user, then who wrote me?

i actualy got an axiom 49...the pads are great but the knobs suck big time really..its so unhandy to automate something with it..or maybe its configuration fault, but i didn`t catch the right one since now...i havent`t tried it really actualy so..

but i got the faders on the 49 and they are rally decent..so..i don`t care..

actualy i would recommend the edirol pcr 500..rock solid and nice keys..           -------......-------...-..-..-..-.-.-.-.-

Not the best, but functional. Not anywhere near Akai level, but decently dynamic.

It's pretty nice for the price, imo. Everything gets a bit loose and the keys start wobbling after a year or so, but that's hard to avoid with any controller.           You believe in the users?

just wen to a store yesterday to see both axiom and the akai 49. The controls of the axiom are to cheap in general, and i didnt like the feel of the drum pads, you dont ``feel it`` very good. The keyboard buttons arent soft as I like. The akai is much more superior, nice faders and tweak, and the drum pad i think is not the best but is better than the axiom and is 12 instead of 8.

So as i think this midi keyboard will be the my most important hardware for a while, i just sticked with the akai, bought it new for us$360,00 bucks with shipping and everything, arrive in 5 days...           ``We shall not cease from exploration - And the end of all our exploring - Will be to arrive where we started - And know the place for the first time.``

If u like softer keyboard than how can u like Akais keyboard when its semi-weighted? It should feel heavier, like on some old analogs or piano...

And pad is exact pad like on MPC - meaning theres no better so I dont get it.. If ur about the quantity of pads than Akai MPD has 16..
I also ordered one and Im waiting 2 weeks and still nothing.. It stucked somewhere in the German boarder..           http://www.facebook.com/xrayzproductions

WELL, i m far away from being a keyboard genius, just a begginer. But, COMPARING the MPK49 to the AXIOM49 (the two that i saw on the store) I can say to you without experience that the MPK49 IS SOFT AS HELL (comparing to the axiom)

And the drum pads is not the best (dont mean that is bad, just not the best) compared to other drum machines. But I think it will do the work very well, uhn, at least i expect.

Hope yours arrive soon
