I would say
offbeat: k-b-k
and: k-bbk-bb
are the most popular.. |

I've been messing around with soft synths and effects for ages, but I have settled with the Muon Tau Pro, Its a really functional synth for Full on Bass. I add a EQ, cutting fequencies between 300 and 450 and clip off the highs around 2000 and Lows round 30. I then add a Limiter to pick up the Low notes and land up with a nice solid driving bass that sticks out in the mix.
Simple and effective. |

Hellp!
I have been using vb-1 for about two months now and i still am clueless on how to create a decent bassline.
I am looking for a dark rolling bassline.
I have been using fretless, but i cannot figure out how to manipulate the sound to what i would like. Would someone kindly post some pointers to get me going in the right direction?
thanx,

Hello everybody, wish having good times
This is my thousandth of two cents...
Discovery vst whithout bugs version:
Initialize the patch select a 12db lp or 24 lp filter, all the way down of the cutoff knob, resonance 0 too, envelope filter amount around a 60 % of the total way, set the decay of the envelope filter to 0.110-0.120 s, sustain to 20 -40%. -Indeed you can tweek it to your taste, but i think that is a good clue-;
You can start doing the k-bbb-k-bbb-k-bbb-kbbb
Thing
Now, for that kind of patch i use voxengoboogex 1.3.1 version whit the following set up:
Speaker cabinet impulse response OFF
Phase 16.8 %
Dynamics 70%
Drive 0%
Tone 80%
Bassically this is the way a start all the configuration patch, also without voxengo boogex i think that the only sound of discovery is a good clue.
I could not say a lot of the next process to do it feet well in the mix, do it feed, its a big job so much important; You can hear in a lot of beautiful tracks not a so much constructed bass in timbre but it feet very well in the complete mix, and still the song is great.
My thousandth of 2 cents
Hope it will help bro´s
Have a nice day !!!!
Keep it lighting!!!!

kick and closed hat on the same tick. I wouldn't do this for long.
Bassline is way hidden in the background, thus weak.
keep tweaking .

hey doc,
Thank you for your comments, now i tried removing the eq from the bass and the bass is can be much felt than the earlier one.
Here is the track without the eq.

Doc?!!
I like the fuzz of that bass
Are you sidechaining the bass? the timing of the kick and bass is a bit off, so it doesn't roll nicely. If you are sidechaining then play with the amount of the bus input. If you are just eqing, then lowcut from 30hz and put a 2-3 dB notch around where the kick is(around 200-400 hz). Tweak it, till it sounds crispy, fat and rolling.
PS: Do me a favor and make post a smaller file?;-)

I use a 1/16 pattern for bass and just sounds repetitive, ddddddddd, I try 4/4 but thats not what I am looking.
I am trying out VB-1 but I don't rate it that much, I also have Toxic 2 & WaspXT for bass. |

QUESTION:
ok.. in cubase i got an EQ on my bassline which i want to be triggered by my kick...
what do i do?
(in FLStudio i can put a peak controller on the kick to then trigger the EQ.. the peak controller VST has settings for velocity, treshold, attack, decay etc... so i´m looking for the same possibilities in cubase) |

one short question:
where in the effekt-chain should i put the distortion?
i usually put first an eq, then compress and at last the r-bass-plugin from waves.
but where should i place the distortion? |
