Having a little trouble with creating good basslines. Problem is, my bass seems to be running away from my kick...like it's a little faster. Can't really explain. Although I keep tuning 'fine' in the oscillator to slow the pace down a bit.. still seems like that. Happening on all vst's! Any suggestions?

It is a common problem:

1- Work in midi domain
2- make sure that your bass andd kick notes or snaped to
grid(see your sequencer manual for how to do it)
3- the amp envelope of your bassline has to have a at
least 50% sustain
4- Adjust the lenght of all your bass notes, while you are
listening to kick/bass combination running. This way
you can adjust the overlap of bass according to kick.

@bassreflex

ALWAYS use a saw wave as the oscillator and work with the FILTER envelope to get the sound to stick to the bass and only bite through with a bit of high end.

This is done with:
Attack: 0
Decay: 10 - 20 %
sustain: 10%
Release: 0

Then adjust the cutoff and envelope depth until the sound is nice and low with a bit of clip and adjust the decay again how you want.

pm me for a preset

Bass reflex, use the waveforms, sawthoth ones, the juno-106 saw is damn phatt, also the SH-101 but u have to work a little the key is in the filter envelope and the amount of it. I use trilogy for basslines only and couldnt be happier

Heres a good tip mate: Use the Filter envelope! how? turn the main cutoff almost all the way down, now turn to the filter envelope:
attack should be way down
decay should be 50-100 milliseconds (shouldnt click),
adjust sustain to your taste.
also try giving more release on the AMP envelope (sustain all the way up, attack and decay at 0).
