I guess ppl think that sound oldschool
...bur yeah

huh? by listening, of course I'm talking about the Landmark and Archipelago here... I meant the tb303-like sound, not the tb303 itself... but who knows how they've made it. Isn't vibrasphere 100% software nowadays?... |

Hi all. I think it's no matter what you using for making bass line. I think The main Feature is that you must post you kick around 60hz and the bass line near 85-100 maybe 85-120 depends on note. No OVERLAPS! or Bass will be moddy and Kick will be lacking you know what i'm talking about =)Use analysers when you creating kick+bass and all will be great. And use you EQ this is very important PLUR! |

I wanna hear some audio clips of basses with and without these phase adjustment plugins, if anyone has the time. Your subwoofer phase setting is supposed to correlate to its placement in your listening environment, but why is this adjustment necessary in the music? Get it right in the setup of the room, and the phase will be right, no? Unless you're talking like, phase init, the control the Virus has.
from the PoCo Manual:
PHASE INIT
This determines the point in the wave cycle at which the oscillators will start when a key is
pressed. At the default value of 0, the oscillators are free-running, so the start of each note
can occur at any point along the wave cycle, resulting in the subtle variations between each
note; an effect traditionally associated with analog synthesizers. At values between 1 and
127, osc 1 is forced to a phase angle of 0, whilst the start point of osc 2 is shifted further
along the wave cycle, the higher the value. The end result is a consistent attack which can
prove very useful in the creation of drum and percussion patches.
If you bounce to audio and copy bass parts, you're not going to have problems with floating phase, as you would with free oscillators. It's no coincidence that most of the good bass modules are romplers and not synths...

some synth like the es1 give you a very nice cliping cause there is no phase init, when you sample it note by note it remove all that and loose all the analog caractere,i think sometimes you really don t need a phase init setting or to sample the note with the best attack... so many killer basslines have been made wihtout that |
