well here we used Vangourd like in alot of our tracks, i also would recomend cronox 2, z3ta, audiorealism bass line (or any 303 emulator like tau pro) and ofcours trilogy.           www.myspace.com/vibetribestudio

do these patches work a lot better on Albino 1, cuz on 2 thy sound crappy

I think they don't load right alot of times in albino 2. Usually it pushes the filter all the way open when it loads, if you bring down the cutoff you'll hear it more like it was supposed to be.

There are two workshops on my website.
one little ironic, mainly for bass, the other a complete song.

cubase sx3 files + plugins are there (windows)

There's something I haven't figured out yet.
And that is wether I should or shouldn't play a bassline note over the kick.

When I do, the kick doesn't sound smooth anymore, but the bassline rolls!
When I don't the kick sounds smooth, but the bassline doesn't roll as nice anymore.

So now, I could use a sidechain compressor, but is this really any different from not playing the bassline at the kick's note?
Because now you don't hear the bassline anyway, when the kick, kicks in.

And there's another option, and that's to do place the bassline over the kick, but to take it's volume down.
Now I've just made a compromise, because my kick isn't coming out at 100 % and my bassline isn't rolling at 100 %, it's 50/50!

So what do you think is the best way to solve this issue?
What's the most common used technique?

The easiest, but als work intensivst way to go is:
Just have to tracks for the bassline.
One for the notes between the kicks and one for the notes on the kick.

For the track with the bassnotes on the kick equalize the deep bass away. The highfreqpart of the bassline you just leave.

Nobody will notice, that the bassline misses the deepbass when together with the kick, because the kick will do. But everybody will hear the bassline with the kick.

I just lower the velocity on the bass note on the kick, till it seats OK. Sometimes I sidechain the bass as well to fine tune.           -------------------------------------------------

I like your idea Subconciousmind, but I think there is another simpler way to get the same effect - you can hit the pitch bend wheel on the kick beat. The good thing about this method is that the pitch bend is a sprung wheel so you don't get an instanteneous change, but more of a natural curve that can also be mapped in the sequencer as a velocity or volume change as well. And you can also map the control changes to a filter on your bass synth that would act like a variable EQ.
