currently using: AudioRealism BassLine, V-station and some free vst called DSR-Sphere(made one track with it)
however its pretty hard to make a bassline that will sound pro...
what bass VST would u suggest for MWNN type of bass?
with BassLine and some EQing i got some pretty good results, tho not close to what i would like it to sound... |

yes, patch programming is an art!!!
difficult to master...
but the sound is not all:
for basslines, you've got to feel you are horseriding with the kick!
that way, the lsdtrancers get into deep state of psychedelic gallop
so try to make your bass sound complement and fuse with your kick, in the way that in frequency spectrum, the kick comes first, then the bass frequencies juuuuust after and slightly starting where the kick frequencies are ending.
not in the time domain, but in the frequency domain!
use spectrum analizer bilt in cubase, and cut with EQ or better use the filter cutoff in your bass synth.
for patch programming itself, read the rest of this thread!!!!
then at the end use side-chaining to make sure the bass goes down when the kick comes in.
maybe you already know all this, but just in case

i don`t think it`s something unusual to use more than one osc for bass. it depends just how do you want your bass to sound. i have 3 osc virus patches, that sound tight and punchy. in my latest track i use trilogy with two layers, one subbass, one an oct higher saw for - one can say - dark and gloomy bassline, notes low and eq. it`s very important, how does the bassline interact with rest of your track. since i started to work in 24bit environment, it`s a bit easier to have my mix in balance.

Hey guys, i have a question. Im trying to make that noisy baseline that artists use many times before an explosion. You can listen to a lot of that on
Iron madness vs SD6 - Dinaks productions
from Dirty South.
I use Logic, so i came close to what i want by using bitcrusher and highpass on the baseline (by bus), but still the baseline low exists with the noisy, can anybody help me?

HEy there
One thing that hasnt been stressed enough is this sampled bassline story.
Oscillators or even emulated ones waver around a lot and cause weird different clips on the attack part of the note and this totally sucks.
For a more pro bass sound , you gotta use either a "synth" that uses samples or actually sample the synth you`re already using.
- To do that use a patch on the synth you like and play in about 5 notes at every pitch you`re gonna use. Once you`ve bounced or recorded that, you can pic the notes that have the best attack. Then you slap those in a sampler and Bamm!
Or if you`re too lazy to do this ( like me ) use the trilogy which is all samples anyway and just nails the same note everytime and sounds solid. Try messing with the little start time dial for even tighter results. Trilogy is also brilliant for doing portmento
and pitch bending stuff - things that are sorely missing in most bass synths.
As for getting subs into the bass , i would never boost too much of the low end - More effective and less confusing to just cut more tops until you`re happy.
Blue filter is good for pretty sharp lowpass stuff
Also , not much has been mentioned of the massive effect the kick has on the bass. I`ve used way too subby kicks that where far too long stretching over the bassline and it causes a lot of mess. It sounds tighter if the kick is only slightly longer than a 16th note so it doesnt crud the bassline.
The TC works Sidechain thing is great too for tightening up. Generally , I`ll put an L2 on the bassline ( which stops certain notes from jumping out when you`re doing quite complicated bass melodies), eq after , then the sidechain compressor and then send BOTH the kick and bass to a single mono group channel with an L2( with VERY light reduction) on it too. This is great for controlling the overall bass level in the track once you`re happy with the crucial balance between the kick and the bassline.
Then everything is locked up super tight and aint going nowhere.
Worth mentioning is the fact that you will never have killer bass without making sure there is NO bass in any of the other sounds in the track - Obvious , but maybe so obvious it gets overlooked at times.
This is just my 2 cents. Think i repeated a few things , but they are worth repeating so whatever.
REmember to try and have fun and not waste all your creative energy on endlessly tweaking the bass. A killer track will not be remembered ONLY for how solid the bass is. Its an added benefit , not the calling card.
Take care of yourselves , and each other.
Peace
