Sincerly man i don't know "that " sound without example, but I think you are aiming for modern electro layered bassline, you can process one layer with delay or reeverb, or spice everything with some swing, sidechain as usual, velocity, shorter notes,glide,distortion....
experiment bro you can do all kinds of shit when you tweak your synth....
it's really for flaming when you come to ask for presets for some bassline you already know how to make...but you are lazy do it and some pro dude will give you his top secret preset to rock the floor
Maybe it's your mixing or good mastered stuff that make you go crazy, maybe your kick isn't fat enough, but i think tweaking is mother of all stupid questions and best answer....TWEAK THAT SHIT MAN!!!!

I've never tried to use two layers, worked thanks man.
I thought I might have been improperly exposed to the parameters ADRS -_-
I apologize for the inconvenience |

Hi I'm new to this forum, been producing for a couple of years now and seeking some help.
Was wondering if anyone could shed some light on the bass from the track "Dragonfruit" by Zen mechanics and Egorythmia:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_C3GuRmzOM
nice and round bass with a prominent click.Super Phat!!
I'm trying to work out what vst might have been used for it,I've tried the usual suspects ie:Sylenth and Trillian but not getting the results.
Any help would be much appreciated:)

I am pretty sure all of these basslines are saw waves with specific settings. It is impossible to really say how all the parameters are set.. It depends on too many things.

Can you guys please stop asking how to do this and that bass and learn how to get a clean phat bass instead?
Do you all wanna sound like the others or do you want to be unique?
Ask how you can get the bass rolling or how you can make the bass stand out for christ sake!
I know their bass sounds awesome but maybe thats because they did a good mix, no?
You can get the best sounding kick and bass combo in the world but as soon as you start placing stuff on top like percussion and leads it will probably sound like shit, have you not noticed that?
That's because you need to open room for the bass on all the other elements, if you want it to stand out!
PS-Sorry, I'm a bit grumpy at the moment!

Just going to get meta (and not helpful at all, really) for a second:
Ever notice how this thread serves two main purposes:
1) Novices asking how to create this or that specific bass by their favorite artist, failing to understand that they just need to learn how to tweak envelopes etc to their liking -
2) Experienced producers bitching about how novices are asking how to create this or that bass by their favorite artist, because people just need to learn the fucking basics and train their ears a bit
And I guess there is a small % of 3) actually about making basslines - a few interspaced posts saying exactly the same thing about filter envelope decay, light or no compression, minimal EQ, and the odd suggestion of band-splitting or distortion.
Sometimes I come here just to post a "3" to contribute to the collective good, then get angry and type up a big "2", delete and consider trolling with a "1", then I give up entirely and roll a spliff.

+1
I think that all the comments that aren't helpfull should be deleted, this way it would be easier to browse and actually learn something, and it wouldn't take ages going trough all the time wasting posts to actually learn just a bit.

I know but we still have to take out our crankiness somewhere!?
Seriously though - I do wish that the bitching/trolling/useless posts could be deleted or hidden: this thread would become so useful.
I think it's daunting because people don't want to sift through the crap for the small number of legitimate (and quite thorough!) educating posts.
But hey, next time someone says "how do I make this bassline," maybe I'll just suck it up and answer - you know, take one for the team. Haha.

I consider the 'oh god I have to pour through 100 pages of isra garbage in this thread to get to the good stuff' process to be an essential part of the isratrance hazing process
