How good is the Nord Lead for bass?
I mean is worth the money or I can just do great with a Tetra or other Vsts?

Its complicated to do a nice bass with just tetr4 but if you post-process it it will sound very nice. I have it and use it for everything except bass but thats me. I prefer cronox2 or ACE for bass

What do u mean post process and why u need that on Tetra synth?

Anyway I will rewrite my question:

I got a Virus TI, so because is so expensive and complex like, I said to myself I'll do all sounds with it.
The thing is that for bass is pretty weak, maybe because of the oscilators..
Now: I was thinking to buy a Nord Lead probably NL 3 for bass and not only, but I don't think is gonna be better than my Tetra, Virus TI or even some VSTs la Ace for bass creation.

So, what's ur oppinions guys on Virus TI, Nord Lead(3) and DSI Tetra for great psy bass compared even with some vsts.

Thanks a lot and sorry for the long post!

Use Virus for high end because its cleaner and more digital and that makes it add more clarity for the hi end and use tetr4 for the low end because its really fat.           http://www.MindDoctorsMakeAcid.com

this obsession must stop you can make a bassline with any of those synths you mentioned, they are all awsome and all provide a unique texture.

This is a Tetra bass. Not that I use Tetra for bass all the time. I use more VST than analog.

Hey All

Still new to all of this. I have been playing around a lot with vb-1 and I am trying to get close to Abomination's bass but I pretty much suck.

Am I perhaps using the wrong vst for this?

Perfect example of what I am looking for. Sorry for the newbishness but we have to start somehwere and I would appreciate all the help I can get.

Thanks

Doesnt sound like the vb1 to me. Try any other synth that has more options. For example sylenth.           soundcloud.com/supergroover

I had the chance to try different basslines today with a club soundsystem. All of them is done by the same synth (Sylenth). For my surprise the clearly best one was a bassline that had a 12db cut in about 60hz, near the fundamental of the bass. And another smaller cut from lowmid mud. And there was also a small boost in first harmonic

How many of you have the same experience? I mean it would be intuitive to have a lot of fundamental in the bassline but my theory is that an ordinary club subwoofer cannot keep very well in the pace when you have a lot of subs both in kick and a fullon bassline and the end result is a muddy sub bass.

So if you create a psy bassline from an ordinary saw wave, how much do you usually cut and from where...?

You mean HiPass filter? I already do not use it, there is no need for digital synthesizer where there is practically nothing below the first harmonic. This type of filter was used to remove dirt from ripping the analog signal. In the days of 100% digital sound, it serves only to change the tone to its detriment. Another case when signal is treated later various enhancers, but is not mentioned about it now.

Btw if it needed I use a peak EQ because this kind of filter don't change other harmonics like HP do.           http://www.beatport.com/release/cross-the-atoms/1042450

Eh, I cut bass below ~30 usually and I find that even with socalled pristine 100% digital sound it helps with removing some muddiness and bad sounding low end rumble from the mix            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

I usually remove everything 10Hz below the fundamental with a 12db/decade filter. Then A/B a rather wide 2db boost on the fundamental, the first harmonic, and a rather sharp cut in the low mids, sequentially. After A/Bing i usually decide not to EQ, or maybe just the boost on the fundamental/1st harm.

I think tho that using some overdrive in the midfreqs can yield better result than boosting sometimes.           --
