pretty nice for full-on
on the channel i use Xbass 4000 or something like that XD

you use xbass 4000 on your bass channel? and it works? doubt it

Today I was mixing this track and the kick and bass combo sounded a bit dull so I tryed to apply xbass4000 to both kick and bass toghether, added EQ and limiter and it actually sounded really nice.

xbass4000 is a nice machine for saturation if you don't over use it.           http://www.MindDoctorsMakeAcid.com

I would never put a limiter on a bass or kick, compression yes, limiting, never never never...

You do know the difference between them don't you?

A limiter is a compressor with very high ratio.

PS- You have good sound by the way.

I rarely if ever have a ratio above 4 in any compression setting. When it comes to bass, often around 2 or less does the trick for me. I also like a slow attack on the bass.thank you for the compliment minddoctors.          Upavas - Here And Now (Sangoma Rec.) new EP out Oct.29th, get it here:

I usually use the oxford limiter (The only one I use by the way) to crush the heck of a track but this is just preferences I think...           http://www.MindDoctorsMakeAcid.com

For now Im not use of any bass enhancer and I can get big and clean low (just good EQ plugin (SSL) & settings). Compressor - yes, for bass when i want to make a more clicky mid/hi-mid in classic KBBB.
Oxford limiter - im use it too but on master channel only (im love that 1)

aha, brickwall limiter on kick-bass buss for kill eventually clicks (on fills etc, maybe it works 1 to 2 times in whole track)

Can you show me example of good full on bass with this synth please?
I tried to get closer to Tau sound but it seems like osc wave (I tried all saw waves) differ from that used in Tau.

Tau is a TB303 emulator. 303 have a 18db/oct filter and if i good remember vanguard have only 12/24dB filter type. at end 303 (also Tau) have specific osc wave too           http://www.beatport.com/release/cross-the-atoms/1042450

If youre looking for 303 emulation, check out Audio Realism Bassline 2, its IMO the best, especially for basses. Phoscyon is good too, but doesnt get the bass end as good as ABL2, but has a really nice sounding filter, but the interface leaves somethign to be desired as does the MIDI learn. ABL2s midi learn is much easier.

Also, Rebirth is freeware now, and has Rewire support if you want the real 303 interface...           .

You mean read 107 pages of comments and post ONE comment to sum it up? Have fun with that! ^^

This thread's mainly about which plugins better than the other, when it actually doesn't make much of a difference...

anyways, some good advice I found in the first 10 pages:
* play around with the notelength
* set all your envelope parameters to zero, then adjust attack, decay, sustain, release till it fits (best advice for me so far)
* and don't play at kick and bass at the same time except your using sidechaining of course
