try a lower setting for the delay, for example 2ms.
it doesn't always work, but just experiment a little bit with it...sometimes it gives a bit more clarity to the kick/bass thingie...

anyone got any advice on how to make these funky, upbeat basslines like in The Great Unknown and Major French Influences, by Kox Box and Troll Scientists respectively?

AudioRealism Bassline2 (ABL2) with cuttoff and envelope quite high and set to 'note' (for individual note placement) is pretty sweet for proggy or full-on basslines. Tweak cuttoff/env to perfection.

Can i borrow your ears to help me with my bassline please??
I dont have my monitors at the moment and using headphones so cant decide if it has bass or lacks bass, can anyone tell me if my bassline has enough bass, or if it sounds right at all? I thought it was ok but now im thinking it is too 'mid' and not enough bass.
Here it is with no treatment
Basically its a bassline i have done previously, put into Kontakt and pitched down abround 6 notches. So im thinking is the originalmple lacking bass, in which case theres not much I can do about this. Or is there bass maybe you can tell me?
Also, does anyone have any tips on what frequency range a good bassline will hit on a frequency analyzer (so I can see it visually until i get my monitors back.)
Any help really appreciated!!
Thanks

hm, do you know how to make a fullon one?
you can make a long note and sidechain, or put the note on the offbeat and make it 1/8 (instead 1/16) and do a little higher filter decay than in 1/16 (because the note is double the length of course)...
yeah.. play with the filter settings
€: if you wanna sound like every other proggy artist, make this --> use the technic above (with 1/8, not the sidechained one) and either reverse the last bassnote in the beat, or automate (raise) the attack of the filter for one of the notes (of course doesnt have to be the last)... cool effect i think

imo: less (to no!) velocity dynamics, less cutoff envelope (but still keep enough snap), no keytrack, no velocity or cutoff to keytrack - maybe add a little bit of sidechain, but very little applied (not fully silence if interfere, that would be too much).
got good results with that...
of course a good kick is relevant. if you have bazzism i got best results with 'short & hard 3', its just 80ms so it wont interfere with bass at a high bpm.
hope could help

or also :
I call that rolling bass because I almost can't distinguish the three bbb of the kbbb, and it gives the impression of a continuous sound.http://www.myspace.com/psyrit

I come near by adding a short bass note on the kick, so there is a bass note on every 16th.
