i agree with u, Asaf...

is like old labels just get too comfortable with their style, sure its good for the nightime, but the 3D Vision/TIP World/GMS/Abslolum/Talamasca  style, like anything else u hear too much of, gets a bit repetetive and 'heard it all before'-ish...

my 2 cents :)

reece, what u say is just a matter of taste.
full on dudes say minimal is boring...
minimal dudes say full on is boring...
and goa dudes say they hate the new music...
you know...
it is the same story all the time...
it is just a matter of taste !!!
nothing else.

Well, i think if it is the end of something maybe "phonokol" (for the trance scene at least), cauz u know, all those guys who signed up a contract with oren kristal from '94-'2000, dont really do music anymore...

BOM!!!

Jako, dont get me wrong dude, i know it comes down to a matter of taste!, i love all things trance, be it minimal, full-on or whatever! - i can find good (and not so good) elements of any style/track/artist....just seems like most genres of trance at the moment are suffering from an identity crisis...artists and labels know what sells so i guess artists are employing all the techniques/codes and conventions of said style cause they know it will sell...???? - perhaps its time for the punters to demand something different and refreshing from the artists and labels..... someone to take risks and not be afraid to stray from the norm...:)

sorry to rant,..but its something i feel strongly about...

well,
imho,
and you can ask artists that we know here in the forum,
try mr. hankey (psysex),
skazi,
Yuli (blt),
Hujaboy,
and more and more...
ask them, and i think that the BIG majoroty of them make music first for them...
they make music they like, and not for bigger sales....
this is what i think about the trance scene...
and i'm sure i am correct...

well, come on dudes, tell her i'm right...

ok,

im sure that the majority of artists make music first and foremost for themselves...i know i do!!!
BUT
like with the examples i gave, u have to admit that a lot of it sounds very similar, same tried and tested formulas, same sound patches etc...

its just my opinion dude,

maybe my expectations are too high?

peace

It's true that no one's trying to really break new ground anymore... And when someone is, no one really gives him enough credit (well, with the exception of Slinky Wizard maybe) for the things that he does different.

It's not like 1998 when you could point out 10 (at least) different acts which made their own unique sound that hasn't been heard before.

That is a fact, asaf.

and, reece, my man,
maybe, and correct me if i am wrong,
you did not like the whole full on 3dvision sound,
and maybe because of that you have not tried to
listen to every thing that we can say it is full on,
so, maybe because of that, you thing that it is all the same...
i think every artist got his/her own things that when you hear a track, you know it is him/her...
YOU HAVE TO LISTEN MORE THEN ONE TIME !

but maybe, you do not want to spend the little time that you have on listening to type of music you do not like...

and maybe i am eating movies ? ? ?
