i think theres a big diference in the situation of a dj and a producer.
i think dj are more dependent of technology.
of curse producers also depend in machines and in new technology, but i think the work and creativity of a DJ its greater when he is well equiped.
and in a musician, i think we depends more of his creativity cause no matter how cool his/hers tools are, the main artistic work depends of his ways express music.

The whole drug preference (yes, it is a preference, not a "requirement" for psychedelia to occur) is a totally personal thing..there's no reason to be arguing or even discussing which mentality to approaching drugs is wrong or right..
If you ask me, at least psychedelics aren't addictive, very harmful substances..and if you know whether or not you use them and are set in your own way already..who cares what other people are doing? It isn't hurting them, just causing you to judge them and their music by their preference on drugs..
DJs don't need as much creativity as producers..sorry to all the DJs that this offends, but I believe it..
You're right that DJs are more dependent on the quality in the technology of equipment they have, but not not much more than producers are in some cases..basically I don't think that Posford can fully express himself on a Pentium 4 running FL..
