Aren't some artists, who shall not now be named, though the letters g, m and s are for some quite odd reason popping into my mind, already making their tracks on basis how well they work for the audience, how well they sell, how much they will be played around the world in the dance floors. it's not about art, it's not about innovativity, it's not about contribution to the scene, it's about money and fame..           "The dinosaurs became extinct because they didn't have a space program."

I think all artists do their music for the fun of it.
Maybe I'm wrong.

Here in Brazil our labels aren't famous or strong or big, but we still have great parties... Isn't psytrance all about parties?

full_on? psytrance all about parties ?

Do I really need to answer this - psytrance is DEFO not all about parties. Today maybe majority of commercial music is all about parties so you came to that idea.

but no.

One thing I know for sure about me and that is psytrance is not about parties for me at all. It's a nice addon to it but it's not all about it.

no shop? open one!

the music is changing - it has been changing and diversing since it was invented, the scene is changing too - some get bigger, some get smaller, some become extinct. I think that 2day there are more trance scenes around the world that there have been 5-7 years ago. some "major scenes" have shrunk in numbers but I think that it is only a natural process.

I think that if the music will be interesting - people will look for it no matter the state of the scene.

and anywhay - I dont want my trance scene to get any bigger than it is (well, mabey just a tiny bit bigger ) cuz once trance music sticks its head out of the underground - it becomes shit - let me remind u what happened with the Nitzhonot scene back in 1998.... it was as big and as ugly as it gets.

as long as the people will love repetive beats
as long we will be able to listen to music which can make u fall into the phenomena called "trance".

this scene maybe dies..
its not important.. its the wheel of time.
but there will be always a scene connected to this
even if we are not able to see it now, because our eyes got blind for watching it. because we remember the old days which are allready gone.
the death of an era is always a birth.
and this is good.

Well, I don't think that the demise of a music store necessarily means the demise of the scene. In my rough estimate, I have bought over 120 CDs during the last year and none of them from a real "brick-and-mortar" music store. Maybe people buy more CDs online now because the prices are lower. Needless to say, a lot of us are more price-sensitive than the general public.

And CD sales are falling everywhere across all genres. The music industry as a whole has been unusually incapable of adapting to the new distribution media such as MP3s. Trust me, sooner rather than later people will find ways to protect their copyright, just look at how much content online has become subscription-based already. The process is too broad and slow for us to easily see it, yet it's there.

And I won't be the first to point out that record sales do not necessarily reflect the overall health of the psy trance scene. The scene is about people, not plastic CDs and it all depends on us, we are the scene and it is entirely up to us if we should choose to let it die down. I don't know about you people, but I'm not going anywhere!

Love and Light!!!

let's not make this another mp3-thread please

as for the trance dissapearing, in belgium there's only one mentionable record store selling psychedelic trance, www.kairoo.com . there are no big commercial organisations putting parties together for us, still we have a nice scene with a lot of parties by people all over the country. if their's something you don't like, it's up to you to do something about it (as said above), however hard it may seem, pursue your goals!           www.psytracks.com :: Brand new website for sharing your psytracks with the world. not all producers make music for money globally.

and denmark is not dead, its okay if iboga or other non-psychedelic trance label from the beggining goes to fluffy easy house music, who cares anyway if they decide to do so.
Arhus freaks of my friends makes real psychodelia in the underground scene and that is only hope for me i guess.

Me and friends believe and follow our instinct only. that is the most important and powerful thing i need to keep in mind. Music is an art, nothing can ban this freedom of expression.
Things will progress and change but there is something we have to keep it for basis.

Also if you think some market of sales goes down then why dont you try to create and open new scene in the new country such as Nothern America, Asia, somewhere no psychedelic trance is around much, that action will worth if you care much about money.

so many artists these days and so much music being made... all of them are not into making it to make money on it.. a lot of music is just made for the love and interest in it ... so much of it is not even released on any record label ...also there are few recordlabels compared to the people making music , that it is impossible to have all this music there in the stores .... people collect what they want to hear and not what is available
especially psy trance .. unlike other music has less shelf value ... so its difficult for stores to keep much of it ...
the scene will go thru ups and down ... cos on one hand we want to stream the music thru controlled way .. but on the other hand psytrance is more to do with freedom than control .....
