I dont understand one thing, how did labels such as Matsuri, Flying Rhino , MDMA , blueroom and other earlier labels collapse. Was this all due to the fact that they went bankrupt? If it is due to that, how was it possible, werent they doing well?

I'm sure someone will go deeper into this, but I've often heard that bad management and heavy drug abuse caused at least a few of the giant labels to go under... Sad really!

i'd have to go out on a limb and point out the obvious: how do u expect small labels to survive the mp3 phenomenon..??           ****andmysoulsbeenpsychedelicized****

Of course mp3 piracy plays a central role... But I believe labels like Matsuri and Blue Room went down before piracy was a big problem...

I dont think those labels were small and if i am not mistaken they did pretty well during those times. Yea i didnt think that mp3 was a big problem at that time, or was it?

They went bankrupt because the distributors (specific one very big distributor) failed to pay them their money owed to them.

all labels failed cause of 1 distributor?!
seems like they invested all of their money into it?:)
labels from israel, japan, uk...
hard to beleive.

may be there were several usual things like mp3, marketing, distribution and so on...

Matsuri stopped because Mr. Suzuki wanted to go another direction.... One of their last compilations was "Let It RIP", which meant the goa sound... He and his "gang" has started some kind of hard house label in Japan, still going strong:)

About Blue Room, I think the guys who ran Blue Room had a hard time working with the Electric M.E.L.T. company or something like that. The guy who ran Blue Room explained it in an e-mail a couple of years ago, but I can't remember the details. There had been some arguing there.

About MDMA, I think they just changed to other labels. The same guys are still working with various psytrance labels I think.

About Flying Rhino. Yes, I'm sure the distribution probably has had a lot to do with their bankrupt. During the last couple of years Flying Rhino released music, they started to release very minimal and also average stuff. This resulted for sure in less records sold... But a lot of the artists that released on Flying Rhino, are now releasing music on Flow Records and Candyflip Records. James Monro has also become a label dj for Candyflip.

With other words, at least most of them are still around. But there are some artists that has completly dissappeared, like Deviant Electronics, Acid Rockers and Spectral... Where are they?

Flying Rhino fell because Lucas, it's then manager decided to quit due to lack of support from the label founders, who then decided to fold the label.

actually internationally seein the music market psy trance hardly has any buyers and in such conditions small label are ought to feel the pinch some time or the other.....secondly the mp3s also take away like 50-60% of sales in my view.......its a tough market for psy in my views           New mixes on
