I have always been wondering if it could be done:
One big annual party which is a week long in North America where all promoters basically get together and make it happen instead of politicizing each other and throughout the scene.
This party wouldn't book the usual Nano Rec folks or the other usual big name suspects but the best artists and dj's North America has to offer...
Then everyone would get together to get all the scene throughout North America to the same place...
Considering how many small psy scenes we have here on our beautiful and huge continent and how many amazing talents, such a show would likely be epic!
Can it be done? Absolutely, but it would require for everyone to pull on the same rope, I have always been wondering if it could be done: Upavas - Here And Now (Sangoma Rec.) new EP out Oct.29th, get it here:

It's gotta be in the West though. Or Mexico if we want to get really tribal and shit. That is acceptable to be N.A isn't it? |

It was attempted in 2007. See AUM Festival Thread for details.

Greg is right, it was certainly attempted, and AUM was awesome, but I think alot of lessons were learned (one of them being arkansas is hot as balls in the summer ; )
would be great to see, theres alot of logistics which youll see by going to the AUM thread, being near a big airport for affordable fares is probably one of the bigger ones.

I would also think it best to make this happen in the middle of the continent, to make the travel distance as short as possible...

Considering recent events, Colorado sounds like a good spot to consider. Weather wise doesn't seem to bad in the summers, it's dry heat after all, and day time temp is pretty much like Goa

Poor choice of words Mubali, perhaps just a natural reflex from being on auto pilot.. Maybe its best to hear from a actual member of AUM :
First off AUM's intent wasn't to be the biggest anything.. You weren't apart of the internal core crew which housed joining components of 8 different crews nation wide, not including the network of each crew that also helped.. You also weren't apart of the work crew that was onsite for a week during setup that was more than double the original number of crews involved in the core before blastoff.. Once the event was in full operation, all affiliations from crews in the Nation known at that time were onboard, minus a New Yorker crew…With that said, im not sure how you can choose the word "attempt".. However, "all promoter" bosses weren't involved if thats were your observation is originating from.. At that moment in time and could be the same now, there was just to much ego to merge.. We did make the effort to include the elite from every crew and they refused to partake so we bypassed them in order to still have all crews involved ..
For the record, the AUM event in Arkansas was the 5th AUM… With many lessons learned from the first 4, the 5th one in Arkansas was just the next step of evolution which was 100% successful from the cores intent.. It was a dream that became a bigger reality..

AUM did attempt with many scouts from Colorado and several from other crews in Colorado to get a venue that met our requirements for nearly a year. Unsuccessful we were, meanwhile; finding other venues in different States from other scouts.. Eureka Springs being the winner for allowing us to meet the deadline we set.. What was really exciting, the Chamber of Commerce was excited about AUM coming there and become actively involved.. It was nice to see gas stations, hotels, restaurants and so on with signs welcoming AUM Fest…

Indeed so! Always lots of lessons learned when your on the right path, especially when there are thousands of miles between crew members and working in areas your physically not in.. Lots of emotion at times.. We spent 3 months debating on the issue of airfare cost and the heat.. We were exercising the "Day Out Of Time" dates with the full moon so we chose to take the risk since the Universe was providing us with the alignment we sought.. This event had zero start up funds, grassroots indeed, so there was no investment to loose which in return brought together the most beautiful group of people from the USA trance dance family with filters we had no control over…
A personal lesson eye learned with an event like AUM when booking an artist known for their style of music. To remind the artist to play what their known for, not what im known for liking

What eye have learned most from the people within this scene is the majority does not like the truth and many are very persuasive at keeping the truth at bay.. so with that said, let's just say a few individuals from the core had ego's they needed to fulfill for their personal agendas in life..
The 2009 event which got bumped to 2010 was going to have a more user-friendly crew(s) involvement with lineup and each to promote just their lineup.. 5 full-moon crews, including one from Canada just to expand the intent of bringing the dance tribe together.. But with the death of two friends who were apart of the evolution of the crew.. Plus focusing on completing the mission of the explorational vessel for interstellar adventures of Worldbridge to push the music even further, me just put AUM on pause.. But eye do believe the Westcoast is working on an "uummm fest" and they say its even better if you believe in competition between events..
AUM's most important traditional intent is in hopes people copy paste the idea to keep it GOAN..

The biggest psytrance festival(s) in the US were by far Fusion Festival in California 99/2000/2001.
Upwards of 1500 people in attendance.
The biggest dance floor I've ever experienced on US soil was Burning Man 1998 for Ollie Wisdom / Syncro / Metal Spark. Probably 2000-3000 people.
None of these other events even came close to that.
In all honesty, there is no other place you can do a festival and pull the kind of attendance to call it a festival outside of California.
And these days that's a stretch without the inclusion of some major Bass Music acts to bring in the feather and leather crowd.
Maybe by 2017 the landlocked portions of the states will have enough of a steady tide of people clued in to our beloved music. Until then, just keep making parties and promoting and supporting the music with both local and international talent in a way that promotes organic growth.
Or make a festival with psytrance as a second stage and book Skrillex and Carl Cox as headliners.

In more recent news .. psymoji of Ellenville NY has I guess yet to refund their resort festival tixets. I didn't book cos it was too pricey for my taste. Be that as it may, crores of rupees are being expected back. Pull for the community!
