I've found that if you're a big person, "circumaural" headphones aren't as circumaural as they claim to be. |

hdj-1000.
best sound, a bit fragile though.
For pure djing id also recommend the technics dj1200.
sennheiser hd25 are just too light for me, felt too light for me.

hdj 1000 are not the best sounding headphones by far, even senheinsers 280 beat them, ultrasones and xone 53 are far better,

- Sennheiser HD-25
- Technics RP-DJ 1200
- Technics RP-DH 1200
These are best ones for me.
Never tried the Xone 53, but always heard great things about it.

For psytrance, do you guys think bass mid or highs are more important?
I am trying to decide between the Xone XD53 and the Pioneer HDJ 1000s, the XD53 clearly have much better High frequencies... and are a tad less expensive... Also I've heard from everyone that the Pioneers break easy, sadly, I've purchased TWO fake ones and so although I've been using HDJ 1000s, they aren't even real... how do XD53's hold up over the years?
Also and this may sound stupid, but I want my headphones to 'look' good as long as possible, does the writing on the real HDJ1000s fade away like it does on the fake ones? What about the XD 53s? Do they stay shiny and keep their text and logos well?
Any input would be massively appreciated!

My first dj headphones were Sony MDR-V700's. They were ok, sounded alright... Then I forgot them in Canada visiting friends, and replaced them with a pair of Ultrasone DJ-1's.
And discovered how crappy the Sonys were, in all regards. Tinny sound compared to the DJ-1's, and over-the-ear design, rather than the Ultrasones' around-the-ear design. After a few hrs wearing Sonys at work one day my ears were in pain. They're heavy too. The Ultrasones are very light plastic. Ive dropped them many times, and they still work fine.
The only issue, is that the leather earpads have dried and cracked over the years Ive had them (about 2 yrs of relatively hard use, only a few parties though), but thats gonna happen to any phones with leather earpads and dry environments.
Oh, also, the Ultrasones cost the same as the Sonys, around 180 USD. . |

I have the Denon HP1000 and they are fantastic, great isolation, and great sound quality! deliver an outstanding 3,500 mWatts of thumping power to each insulated and hermetically sealed ear cup. the kick has a lot definition, what is very good to beatmach!
comparing with the headphones of the Technics or Pionner (1000) i prefer the Denon
