the other contendant are ultrasone dj1 (both verions) I have also heard good things about the Allen and health ones.           "The dedication to repetition — the search for nirvana in a single held tone or an endlessly cycling rhythm — is one of electronic music's noblest gestures."

yeah!

They were a gift, so....

Technics headphones i like, but prefer the HD 25's.

I have a cheaper pair of HD 25 -SP1's.

Great for studio.....but too soft and wobbly for DJing.

I use Pioneer HDJ-1000.
Killer Sound, but use them with caution cause they break easily!

Technics RPDH 1200s. Great sound, comfort and can take a BEATING. They also have a detachable cord, so if that breaks, you don't need to replace the entire headphones.           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

Try the AKG K181`s.
I absolutely love my set. Its like having a nice full range JBL box strapped to either side of your head.

I have AKG k81dj - the smaller, (much) cheaper version of the k181s. had them for 2 years now, used them in all environments from clubs to indoor and outdoor parties and in the studio, and they're great and still going strong. they have the best sound insulation of any headphones i've used and sound incredibly clean and true. there's no exaggerated bass or shrill mids, just good, clean sound. i think they were voted best headphones for <$100 at head-fi.org.

that said, they do start to distort at higher volumes, but since the sound insulation works so well, there is usually no need - even in the club. for $60, you really can't do better.

Those are the best headphones i know so far and i used to sell them for about a year as i worked for this company..

at least the pro line sound way better then akg, beyerdynamic or sennheiser and i bet the dj line will be as cool as the pro line..litttle expensive the pro line but really woth the money..

http://shop.digitalaudioservice.de/quick_search_result.php?keywords=ultrasone

the pro 900 is really the best out of them, but 360€??

what tha f.., why so expensive, sadly..           -------......-------...-..-..-..-.-.-.-.-

hmm.. i didn't like the ultrasone sound and feel at all. so that's a very subjective statement.

Well..we tested em with a lot of music actualy and the overall comparison was quite clear for all our employees and customers as well..

the beyerdynamics are really sharp in the high fq..you can hear it especially on female vocals or drums , the akg are quite good but for us the ultrasone got wins the run overall clearly..

ok, maybe we all have the same subjective view but that would be kind of strange actualy..whatever, i cannot even afford them right now, but they would be the way to go, at least for me..

and i rate it for studio purposes btw..not for dj..haven`t heard the dj line yet..

i have seen plenty of opinions out there that are quite different. ultrasone may make good quality headphones, but they are by no means 'the best' - I am not even sure there is such a thing in the world of high-end headphones and people who have too-fine sense of hearing.

what that means is don't believe anything what you read on the internet and try before you buy.
