havent most of url been here done dat before....im achully fedup of venting my frustration out here on isra when instances like these happen...its makes no sense....it achieves no purpose.......

im sure if the cops were made to piss in cups, most of em wud show up positive for alcohol too. which im sure is illegal when on duty.

As you all may be aware, consumption or possession of Narcotics is illegal and is governed by the Narcotic Drugs And Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
Section 27 & 27A deal with punishment for possession for personal and commercial use respectively.
Under Section 27 of the Act, a person who consumes cocaine, morphine or diacetyl-morphine and some other drugs given in the schedule to the act, would be punished with rigorous imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year, or with fine which may extend to twenty thousand rupees, or with both.
Where the substance in question is other than the ones mentioned above, imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months, or with fine which may extend to ten thousand rupees, or with both.
As for people held with commercial quantity, it's rigorous imprisonment for 10 - 20 years and fine between 1 to 2 lakh rupees.
Attempt to commit the above mentioned offences is punishable with the same as committing them.
There is a provision for the Central or State government to take into consideration the previous records of people testing positive and they may be tendered immune from prosecution.
The situation in Poona last year was similar and there has been no verdict as yet.
