It’s interesting to see how music affects taste.
It reflects a whole way of living.
Example: Before I started listenening to trance, I never understood the whole “shanti” behavior, the whole Indian clothing style etc. I can even say I despised it.
I can even say that after I discovered trance, I also discovered that my favourite color changed from black to red as a consequence.
Is it just me?

I don't think it really depends on the music itself. Each "new" kind of music brings with it a kind of surrounding culture. For example take Heavy Metal, the average metal fan will wear big black/brown shoes, black lather jacket, will have a long hear and 99% will have some piercing.

The same was with Rock'n'Roll, Twist, Disco, break dance.... whatever.

So, IMHO, if in the very beginning, the scene were born not in Goa/India but in other place, let's say USA, I don't think we would have all that "shanti" things, OHMs, fractals etc...

Well for sure music affects our tastes and way of life.
I personally started visiting more clubs and places than before, meeting new and interesting people and i started spending more of my time per day for music and parties matters.
Its more than a hobby for me           Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!

i changed but musicwise... i mean if i listen to some rock or MTV song (i don't do that regularly) i concentrate more on the details.
i listen to each part of the song seperately: percussion, bass guitar, the structure etc...

ps. whenever i do that i see why trance is much better for me... except the singing and maybe guitar part most of the song parts are quite simple.

well, black is merely a contrast and not considered a colour, therefore trance coloured your life!!!

well raver, i am sorry 2 say, but as much as i love trance, and u know how much i like the music, i dont really like the culture and stuff. i dont really like the shanti thingy and stuff. i think its 2 hypocritic of people 2 think that they r shanti and shit but without really knowing the meaning and defenition of being so! i dont think i am "shanti and shit" in my heart and so i dont really feel like i should look like 1. if u'd c me down the street u'd wont have a clue that i am a trance loving person.
But thats just me           "...God made weed, Man made booze. Who do u trust?..."

Black is still my favorite color

But trance changed me, opened my mind to alot of things, not only musicwise.
Trance made me more "in touch" with my feelings. For example, the first time in my life music made me cry.

I agree with you Kenneth. Most people don't really understand the meaning behind this "cool" definitions. We also live in rather superficial times, everything comes and goes quickly. It's "In" and cool, so it's great. Do we really care about it's meanings ?

When u'r exposed 2 something new, something u consider as "cool" u naturally wanna b or look related 2 the new trend.
After a while u adoped the habbits of the group until u find the next best thing.
It happend 2 me, about 7 years ago i got into trance music and my "colored" period began.... after a few years u begin 2 realize that u can still love trance the same way without all the accesseories that surrounds the trance scene... u don't need all the showing off "hey look at me, i belong 2 the trance scene...." poze in the everyday hanging around.
ohh the one thing that it did change is my ability 2 appreciate nature and the strength it beholds....

well raver .. trance sure affacted my taste and behavior.. (my color is orange . trance made me the person who i am today, the music opened my mind (with alittle help from the green leaves) to other interst in my life and opened me to other ppl. trance is good for the soul! everytime i'm bumbd or sad.. i turn on my compact and listen for hours it sure became my lifestyle.
and has for you kenneth, most of the colorfull party ppl that i see in partys come back home and change back to normal clothes and behavior..
all that trance culture got very fake.. thats kinda bummer.. but let the music do her magic and make ppl change.

Olli, those who know me know I dress up the less "goa style" there is.
If any, I dress up in a technoish way.
I just said it changed my whole way of thinking, and the color thing was just an example.           Majority is never right!

i believe that in order 2 b a trance lover, u need 2 b differnet in a way, since it's not the main stream music. i believe that people who love trance belong to 3 categories.
1. people that the music really does it 4 them.
2. people who listen 2 the music 'cuzz it's the best music 2 do drugs with.....
3. combo (1 an 2) people (i include myself in this category).

back 2 the topic, i think that most of us here in the forum r at the ages that we r still growing up and developing, so anything u do does change u in a way..... and joining the trance culture which is extreme in many ways should change the way u think, dress, dance and shit 4 the matter...
