Hello ladies & gentlemen

I've got enough money to get something like the Mopho SE or the Sledge. A nice well bit mono synth.

In the past month via trades I've tested a Micro & Minibrute (best), Bass Station 2 (a joke) & MS-20 Mini (fun but I'd prefer the modular version if I could be arsed putting it together lol).

I'm gonna get a Prophet 12 for my birthday next July but want a less expensive synth that can also be used for live gigs.

It needs to ride well with my two new xoxbox's & the MFB drum machine I'm eyeing off.

Cheers           Cuntus Maximus.

Been eyeing this for ears.

A little more expensive than the Mopho SE but something about it that sets it apart, it's got that vintage analog vibe that a modern day analog keyboard somehow misses. The ms-20 mini and perhaps the Arp reissue come closest.

Yeah seen it & tested it. While it's lovely I'll soon have a Kilpatrick Audio Phenol & next month a 6u x 126hp eurorack case to fill so my module needs will be taken care of.

I want a modern *cheaper* synth that's good for using with bands & also as part of my life acid techno set.

The Telemark doesn't meet either of these criteria plus it's almost $1000aud more than either Mopho SE or Sledge...           Cuntus Maximus.

abstract instruments Avalon

a really great 303 with shit loads of extras and interchangeable Filter cards ( actual mechanical switching instead of Digital)
also loads of CV in outs to epand it with other modules

Sounds perfect next to a real one

I just got two x0xbox's built by Andy Pledger. They cost me $1200.

A single Avalon Bassline Berne goes for $1590. Yes it has some cute extra features but at its base its still just a 303 & I believe paying over $600 for a single 303 is an absolute joke.

I'm getting back in to guitar so I'll soon be shopping for pedals that'll give me a wonderful array of fx & filters anyway.

And at $600, I'm more than happy to take one of my x0x's out to gigs. They're in a custom metal case built like a tank.

The Avalon is fun, don't get me wrong, I demo'd one in a shop, but when you compare it to what else is around for the same price it seems rather OTT.           Cuntus Maximus.

Meh after being at a mates place last nice gonna just grab the Akai Advance 49 & a copy of NI Komplete. I'll have a Phenol, 2 x X0Xbox & next year a Prophet 12.

Now I just want a hardware drum machine as well, waiting to see what the smaller ones coming soon from MFB will be like. Or else a TR-8.           Cuntus Maximus.

Avalon is way too expensive compared to a DIY XoxBox but getting an authentic 303 circuit to do those weird things = priceless, especially if you're making acid techno. Quite sure there would be a lot of takers.

Cannot agree with you on the Minibrute vs Novation thing....after working several hours with both my vote goes to the Novation entirely.

It's not an amazing synth but it does well many things and costs less than 400 €...for sure maybe it's not what your looking for but to call it a joke is not really fair.

I found the XOXbox really squeaky sounding and the filter was way off as well...

years ago I used to have a rule... anything under 700 was basically a toy and didn't have legs to last in the studio for a few years. ( not calling 'everything' under that amount a toy) but a good place to start

If I had to do it from scratch again... I'd go for Microbrute/ modular/ Avalon / electron rhythm/........ and a shit load of pedals and rack stuff

Yep gonna get the 3 tier rack but start with just one of the units.

I reckon my hardware system will now go:

2 x x0xb0x (say what you will but Andy Pleger uses high end parts & bunds a custom metal casing, converted they go for $810AUD each)

1 x 3 tier Moog Mother-32

1 x 6u x 126hp eurorack based loosely around the Pittsburgh Foundation 3.1+

1 x DSI Prophet 12

In the box after testing a load of software that a friend own I only am interested in Komplete. I found Omnisphere 2 sounds good but lacks any real ability to modulate or get deep in to synthesis.           Cuntus Maximus.

And Yidam you might not like my comment on Bass Station II but for the price I expected something at least in metal casing, yet it felt no better than my 3 year old sons toy keyboard.

I guarantee if it got knocked of my desk on to the concrete floor it'd crack.

If arturia could affor well built chassis then so can korg & Novation ffs.           Cuntus Maximus.

Preordered two Mother-32's with a 3 tier rack to expand on eventually. I always wanted Moog but their Phatty series never grabbed me and a Voyager was just far too expensive. These look useful & reasonable value.           Cuntus Maximus.

Just bought an Analogue Solutions Leizpig-S or however you spell it used.

Also got two Mother-32's on preorder for end of November.

Sorted.           Cuntus Maximus.
