Monitoring upgrade !

With that pair of PMC, thoses mackies aren't gonna stay anny longer !

The PMC's are great mid-field monitors. Looks like you may need to re-think your desk.

Now the mackies are gone, and the desk repositionned so it's less intrusive (with acoustic treatment at reflections points on the desk).

But yes that's the next upgrade I have in mind! I'll probably go for something like a small sterling modular. But thoses things are really costly, so i'll have to wait a little bit.

I see from your avatar photo. The problem with moving the desk back is that you will need elastic arms to reach the controls if you are to stay in the correct listening position for a mid-field monitor.

The foam doesn't look substantial enough to prevent comb filtering below 1000Hz.

It is hard to deal with these issues without the right desk for the job, as you have mentioned.

Maybe modifying an old desk can offer a cheaper solution.

I found the best solution, a carpenter friend of mine is going to build me a custom "sterling plan A like" console           http://www.storm-mastering.com

Is that a custom rack-stand? Looks really comfortable to use! Seems the one like that will fit my needs too.

Hey Makus!

It's a commercially available studio desk, I got it from Thomann in Europe. It's called the Studio RTA Creation Station. They do a bigger version (the Producer Station), and a smaller version too (the Mix Station), but the 8U was fine for my mastering needs and room size.

I got mine here:

When I have enough money I'm going to get some proper stands to decouple the ATCs from the desk, probably Tower Sonic or Jasper stands.
