not at all, im happy to pay the duty..
the issue is when you buy through a local dealer you have them to hold responsible if something buggers up.... i like having someone to speak to when im having technical issues, or when something doesnt work as its supposed to...
funny story, i bought my old powerbook in dxb, few years ago the display wouldnt switch on i sent it to apple india they said 35000 for a new logic board... i said ok send it back, ill send it to dubai would work out cheaper... laptop comes back, couple of days later i try turning it on works fine no problem.... as u can imagine i was uber pissed and created such a stink, i sent emails to apple asia singapore, and got a proper appology... the local asswholes lost their 'authorised repair' stamp shortly after...
NOW
my new desktop had problems with its fans.... apple picked it up from my house so they tested it b4 and i could see everything was ok... they burned out the logic board in repairs, killed 2gb of ram, basically bugered it.. they told me sir this only the 3rd macpro thats come in for repairs...
i called the company i bought my mac from, the 'authorised seller'.. screamed... in 10 days they replaced my logic board, replaced my ram and had the guy even come back and recconect ALL my gear..
moral of the story, buy in india when your buying something with many components.. you need someone answerable when spending so much money..... |

Word up to whomever mentioned shaalu music, been upgrading my gear and they have been a valuable help. One phone call and the gears on my desk in an hour.. awesome, prices are v competitive too...
back to the earlier argument of abroad or india, i bought a second hand mackie online paid the import duty etc etc, only to forgot the power converter in my excitement and blew it!!
luckily got given the exact mixer by someone from a studio here who didnt need it, so no real loss per se, but fuck still!!
anyone want a 1402 mackie with a blown power supply, msg me hehehe |
