@ spindrift.
Excuse me to interfere in ur coversation, but i have a few points that might change wat u think
1) Kala is not the general term used for black .
2) Kala is a very very new word compared to KAL.
3) Kala is actually art. The word u know of as dark or black is Kaala.
Now, Do the maths.
Kali is not derived from kaala . It means Kal,i. Who does time . Just like Abhinetri( actress ) who acts ( abhinay).
Hope thats wat u call 2 paisa in inglish ? |

I'm not sure what language you are referring to but Kala is certainly black in Sanskrit as well as the word commonly used for black in some Sanskritic languages like Bengali.
And somehow I very much doubt that Sanskrit have been missing a word for black until recently...but please go ahead and present a source to your claim.
And I have only seen the Sanskrit word for black transliterated as "kala" and never as "kaala", so excuse me for using standard transliteration instead of your personal system.

wow long discussion for only one day. just wanted to add that i dont find kali terrifying. i love her. i love this symbol. as a person who is astrologically guided by mars, the war planet, i really really find kali very appealing to me. exactly like athen in greece. i love them. as far as i heard in volks ethymology kali can mean time but isnt it generally just black. i have to learn hindi. i would love to.
btw do you know, fria, about this ritual where many thausand animals are sacrificed in the days when kali has menstruation? i had some very special experiences with this one.....it is one of th main reasons to see her as dark.....

I have never seen that image in any temple and I guess you are right that it's an image mostly associated with the left-hand path.
But I would not go so far as to claim that left-hand tantra is not Hinduism just because it's not mainstream today.

Well Tantra was more a science than part of the religion. Thus it exists in many religions. That is why Kali in a temple is never shown sexually, as she is the eternal virgin....Tantra, and only Yoni Tantra utilizes sexual images, but besides it not being mainstream it's not considered a religion, else you would find temples with tantrik statues.....but you don't find these...Such statues and imagery were only used as props in secret sexual rituals. But this is my understanding of it.
The phallus is already seated in it's vagina, Kali has nothing to do with this in the temples Moki..the entire Shivling and it's base make up the phallus and the vagina.
Animal sacrifices and blood are not considered dark, but now these don't really exist so much. These were considered as fertility rituals. Moki you might find it all dark, and I understand you have a right to. All I am saying is that none of this is based on any "dark" concepts...it's all for the purpose of leading one to inner peace etc etc. Just have a look at all the Kali temples in India...very colourfull places, with a plesant vibe.

Bro, Kala is Art in sanskrit . PERIOD. Rangbhin is wat u colorless. Shvet for black. KAla is not a sanskrit word for black.
Another thing the differnce between Bengali and sanskrit is of atleast a thousand year.
Now do the maths. |

and after a 100 debates wit my office people ( which also holds the nations number 1 Hindi news channel ). Black in sanskrti is Shyam.
So ye. there we go.
Also, This kinda mis education amongst non indians abroad is so abundant. Like u were almost SO sure cos of ur chilling wit tantra babas ( yes BABAS).
Now basically, Psytrance culture has even more diluted the real facts and made dubious creeky fantasy lands where idnains worship sex and drugs . Lol. |

fria but really, i am very interested to know what you think. seriously. about this ritual with kali in india. where so many animals are killed in the days when kali has her days. there is a blood bath.
to me this is really something extraordinary. i am a vegetarian and even the idea of sacrificing the animals does not fit into my concepts. why do they do it. is it traditional hinduism. or is it just some kind of dark tantra.
i have to admit, that i am sort of self educated in tantra, tried to experiment a lot with it in sexuality, and there you use all those symbols of kali parvati and all other women, changing them in your own mind in the sexual act. the shiva lingam as the most sacred thing in the universe. this is my home made religion you know, i am sure i am very far from traditional india with that. and actually i am very curious about this kali ritual cause i know so little about it. but i made extraordinary expriences with it. ..this blood bath....

sounds like some left path stuff ^ .. iv been to a lake in assam where they say it turns red once a year when kali has her period .. once a year tho , not monthly .. dunno about animal sacrifices .. theres lots and lots of very weird stuff that goes down .. one where an aghori inserts a white hot metal rod into the lower back , going rite upto the neck .. instant enlightenment .. soo moki , what tantric sexual stuff have u tried ? .. try sitting on a pot of water and err .. suck it up .. then try with milk and finally with mercury .. u will then be able to suck the soul right outta who u screw .. same for men , suck water .. progress to milk and then mercury .. ouch ..

man, you dont see how serious this is. i dont know, i have tried so many times to explain it ( the sexual experiment) and people dont take it seriously. but it is the most active meditation. you can visualize everything. kali and parvati, the black one and the wife. you can do pranayama and special rhythmic breathing. in and out. moon and sun. it is the ultimate transcendence. and the shiva lingam. it is so sacred, i cant explain my respect towards this symbol. the chillum. the lingam. the ultimate male energy. sucking off the ignorance. i cant explain, it is such a serious thing.
yes their is a real bloody bath ( do you know btw this track of noized, you should hear this heheheh, i love the track). anyway. the bath in worship of kali. it made extraordinary changes in my life. negative. i have experienced so many things after i got connected to this ritual in a remote way...
