I don't need to open my mind. It is you who should be educated and well versed on the subject before handing out an opinion based on what you heard through some chance encounters.
I am not prejudiced in the least, just opposed to false conceptions. Not being rude, merely telling you that you have a wrong notion. If ou were open, you would maybe read up on it or study it in a bit more detail before continuing this conversation.

You do know what Tantra means?
Yes, it's "to do" and not "to read".
And asking me to read up when I'm the only one that has so far sourced any of their claims is a joke.
I have met Kali on a couple of instances and I have experienced several really magic events with these gurus I speak about.
I'm not about to start describing some of the most life-changing events of my life to some rasistic internet lowlife to correct their prejudices.
And if it's not prejudice you base you assumption on how the gurus I met are, please go ahead an explain then.
So the village gurus is quacks...so it's only city babas one can trust?
And the fact that he had one disciple speaking English that could translate I guess means the foreign infestation in thought means that he must be a quack as well?
Also sometimes I have had the company of my mother who knows Bengali, Hindi, Gujarati, Sanskrit and some other Indian languages I forget the name of.
And staying for long periods in a place even westerners can pick up a Indian language (at least to speak...I tried to read up on writing Bengali....all I can say is poor Bengali children).

Tantra means "to weave" denoting continuity..The word Tantra also applies to any of the scriptures commonly identified with the worship of Shakti.
So probably you should read up on some of these scriptures before you get all riled up.
The motto of Tantra is ‘Live by what you can actually prove and verify.' Thus I say such things are not open to INTERPRETATION...THESE ARE ABSOLUTES.

Check this...India's most powerfull Tantrik was called to demonstrate his powers on a TV show and FAILED...hence I say, those who call themselves Tantriks publicly are but liars...the true ones we will never see.
It has nothing to do with villagers or urban folk...just the true gurus will not keep an audience. They will not impart knowledge unless you pledge to devote a good part of your life to the cause...they do not need conversations, or friends..neither do they have the time to waste discussing when they know they should be practicing.
TANTRA is supposed to be a secret science. Only very few are exposed to it.
Also Spindrift..you got second hand information, from a guru translated by a disciple...maybe the translation was faulty...as I said literal translations take away from the context of such concepts. Thus too, I generalise and make what you think is a racist idea..when I say westerners will never grasp the ideals..LOST IN TRANSLATION

LOL... a guy agreeing to kill someone on stage using tantric powers was a quack...I sure could not see that happening.

Usually it goes with the territory when you are a guru to have disciples.
But the typical Kali baba indeed spends most his time alone doing sadhana in a graveyard.
I spent many sunsets with the Kali baba of Kon-Kali in WB and he sure was not the most open to any outsider and mostly grunted and threaten most people trying to approach him.
But since the Baul guru I visited with was one of his friends I escaped that treatment, but he sure was not on the verge of taking me in as his disciple.
The Tantrik guru I actually lived with was a very unassuming character, and not the sadhu type.
Most of his surroundings had a sceptical view of him, seeing that he lived in a town where people predominantly worshipped Vishnu/Krishna.
He did not advertise himself, it just happened that my mother got in touch with a librarian that heard about him, so she went to find him and I got invited to come and stay as well.
I did not get initiated as a disciple but that did not stop him from expressing his views and offering help.
Anyway, this is totally of topic, and you are certainly free to believe that any tantric that can be approached by someone is a quack....I know more about him than you do since I lived with him for months and have actually seen what he can do and what he knows. You are simply guessing based on prejudice.

No Spindrift...if your months with this guru leads you to believe Kali is Terrifying and believed to be "Black"..that her name is derived from "Black"....this line of thought is what leads me to believe that the guy was a quack. It is not prejudice but a slightly twisted interpretation that you have which leads me to believe this.
All Tantriks view Kali as the mother, her name is not derived from Black though it might also mean black but as I said as a denotion of the cosmos..She is all... For if he had grasped the true nature of this Goddess he would not say such shallow things that touch but the tip of a very deep and huge iceberg. Maybe you honestly lost a little of the philosophy based on translation. I say this with No malice and no disrespect to your Guru. Maybe his disciple who translated was in want of better words.

The name is belived to be derived from black...at least that's the view on scholars on the subject.
Of course there is many associations he word and who knows exactly why "Kali", the godess, "kala" the colour and "khali" the emptiness or void have very similar sounds...there is a clear connection between Kali and the colour black which you might fail to recognise, but I can assure you that it's not the case that anyone who doesn't share your view is a quack.
Drnking the blood of your enemies, beheading people and making love to corpses might not seem like terrifying aspects at all to a gentically enlighetend Hindu like yourself which is comepley void of ego and fear, but for a lot of regular humans fear exists and Kali worshipping can help you understand the force that is behind those fears to get rid of them.
Anyway, I really find this way of discussion absurd....if you are so adamant about trying to find some way to prove you are right by ad hominem attacks on me instead of arguing you own point...at least ask me what my views are or what I base them on instead of repeatedly making assumptions of what I think and who I got that information from.

For sure there are sadhus who doesn't denounce the material world completely and some sadhus does take on western disciples.
Since there is money and status to be made from western disciples there is a lot of bullshit going on and without even having an idea who Gill's guru is I cannot say anything about how legitimate it would be to call him a sadhu.

KAli is a celibate Goddess..you must be getting mixed up with Shakti here. She doesn't have sex with a corpse in any form. SOmetimes she is seen dancing on SHiva...there are many versions about this. One that she was so crazed while killing all the demons that the GOds Implored SHiva to put an end to it..and he lay down and she stamped on him...when she realied that she was standing on the Lord, she felt shamefull..hence her tongue rolling out..a sign of "Lajja" or shame. Thats one concept..
She beheads the ego...the garland of heads symbolises non attachment to the body or the ego.....the drinking of blood denotes compltete control over ther senses.
YOu are being very juvenile and taking everything Literaly..but this is not the case with INdian religion. YOu cannot be so narrow minded...it's all based on a higher aspect than what you see.
You are being ignorant and rude spindrift..i have links too, and a whole library of Tantras and scriptures that have been taught to me for many years now. YOu are just an ignorant person and one who gets stuck on imagery...
